I am looking ay buying some micronised linseed. Other than Charnwood Mills does anyone elase sell it or does anyone know of any feed places in Bedfordshire that can order it in from C Mills instead of buying it yourselfand paying p&p?

If money is an issue, people in areas where they can't get micronised, safely feed raw linseed ground in a coffee grinder on the day it's fed.

This might not be very helpful but although the initial out lay of charnwood's linseed might seem a lot, it actually does work out fairly cheap. It did make me feel a little sick the first time I bought mine but I've had it for about two months and I do feed quite a lot for condition, and I still have loads less. The bag seems to be never ending. I think I'm going to get about three to four months out of the bag so when you look at it like that it's really cheap compared to other feeds.

Including delivery, Charnwood works out at £1.38 per kilo.
Feedmark works out at £4.88 per kilo!!!!

Can you grind raw linseed? I didn't know that. I thought it had to always be cooked first?

OP, I have just started getting my charnwood linseed from a place near Northampton called Metafix. It's on Charnwood's stockist page, right at the end. They get a delivery once a month, but you have to order in advance what you need. It's a bit of a trek for me too, but I pay £17 for a bag as opposed to £27 straight from Charnwood!

I thought so too.

When someone from another forum started using it (they can't get micronised in France) we all waited for her horses to drop dead:p

Well, there you go, you learn something new every day. I often buy bread rolls with linseed sprinkled on the top and I wonder why I don't drop dead when I eat them!

I would have thought most feed merchants would get it for you easily. We don't keep it in stock, but can have within a few days. You could also try Equus Health, they do micronised linseed, or linseed lozenges, which I think are made by I'Anson.

Can you tell me where this place is? I'm googling metafix but its just coming up with a place in raunds that i do not think sells it lol

I get 10kg from Equimins, lasts 120 days, I add my minerals to it, so I am happy to pay for a tub of Equimins advance at the same time.
I agree with others it lasts a while, I am sure it is a lot cheaper than buying oil from supermarket, and is better. It is conditioning, easily digested, and good for joints, skin and hoof, all round good stuff imho.

Hi there, yes bizarrely it is this place! They sell a bit of animal feed I think too as the company's owner has horses and uses Charnwood stuff. You have reminded me, I must go and pick up my bag that I ordered from there last week. If you're quick, you might get on the next order, it's proabably due shortly.

Wow, that is handy as its in my village!
Have spoken to them about it, they're getting back to me on prices and times etc :)

If you're in Beds you're within their delivery area (they're located at Flitwick, Beds) and they charge £21.50 for 20kg bag. I use them and can recommend them. As I'm in Devon though, I have to pay for courier delivery.
