My horse currently has micronised linseed in addition to his feed, which was Pure Condition but I'm in the process of changing to Wingery Conditioning. I've but I've also been recommended to use EquiJewel but I'm not sure which would be best (EquiJewel or Linseed) mainly using it for weight gain and shinyness.

Any recommendations/ opinions?

Big difference in price. Linseed would be my choice. I have used Equijewel to produce a show hunter and yes it puts a top on alongside the appropriate work, but I think linseed will give better foot quality.

Ive used both and I think that equijewel is v expensive for what it does, Linseed is much better.

I did the Winergy Conditioning feed trials- I found it impossible to feed the needed amount (about 6kg a day) to my mare plus the fact that a bag lasted 3 to 4 days, just watch the amounts you are having to feed.

Thanks both, I phoned their feed line and they said to feed 3Kg of the winergy so I'm trying that to see how it goes for a bit, if it doesn't work out then the next thing on my list to try is Releve

I will keep on with the Linseed rather than changing

I also did the winergy conditioning trials and had to feed a stupid amount. My horse didn't actually put any weight on either. Never bought any after the trial as it would be too expensive - the bags are only 15kg so would last me 2 1/2 days!

I fed sugar beet, Alfa a molasses free and micronised linseed in the end along side ad lib top quality hay and it worked brilliantly

Linseed is more effective and cheaper.

Equijewel sent mine bonkers too.

As a side note mine is on the winergy conditioning. Bags are 15kg and he gets through a bag every 5 days. Looks fantastic.

NMT - thats the same quantity I'm going with, plus a mug of linseed in each feed and ad lib haylage. Will give it a try for a month or so and see what happens. If it's nothing then I'll be blood testing and then trying the releve with linseed and see what that does

I feed 2 mugs of linseed with the winergy, but he is in hard work and a poor doer.

The releve worked at first but they both gradually dropped weight and went off it. Though I do know horses that look great on it.

I am on this feed exactly the same as you. I have also been told to try Winergy although the starch levels are higher and DE low. I am also considering adding Equi-jewel to his diet. I have also looked at Saracen and Topspec. Completely boggled on what to do. I am going to up his pure condition to 2.5/3kg and add some sugarbeet. I have just gotten 10 bags of it so will see if there is any improvement otherwise I will look to change.

I went with the wingery even though it had a lower DE and the change in my horse has been amazing, he's only been on it about 3 weeks and the change is noticable already. I stuck with the linseed mostly due to ££ and recomendations on here and so far its working.
I'm sure Pure have changed something as a lot of people who hadn't been having issues seem to have started recently. my horse also licks his bucket clean with the winergy whereas he was starting not to with the pure

My guy still loves Pure feed goes crazy for it but he is dropping weight. He really isn't a winter horse it seems and only grass seems to get him looking good. Once I have finished the order I have just gotten I may look to change if he looks no better, I may also pay to get our independent nutritionist Clare Mcleod - may be useful for me.

My guy looked awful last winter and I really dont want him looking like that again!

Do you have any photos by any chance. Also what does the feed look like is it similiar to pure condition and is it a complete feed. They dont really have much nutritional analysis on their web.

Photo's of horse or the feed?! I can do both/ either when I get home tonight (currently at work!)
Yeps its a complete feed, I could go back to having seperate ones now I've been using complete for so long. The feed is similar to pure it the fact it mostly looks like chaff but where pure looks like readigrass, wingergy is like alpha a. i have the paper label which is attached to the bag i'll photograph for you with all the ingredients on

Seriously forget the EquiJewel unless you are a millionaire - I tried it once and noticed no difference at all in either my horses condition or coat shine.

Linseed wins hands down - cheap and does the job with excellent results.
