Could anyone who has used micronised linseed tell me a little more about it please , I am looking to use it to put weight on a 14 hh pony he is appropriately wormed , warm enough , in at night with ad lib good quality hay and fed a balancer with cond cubes and chaff at the moment ...... I have heard some great report about micronised linseed .... Alot say it has similar nutrition to grass .... Does this mean it is ok to feed in the summer ?? As alot of posts refer to using it for weight gain in the winter??does it fizz ponies up as the pony in question is on cool balacer as can get a bit hyper , Can anyone recommend feeding rates and I've noticed there is a big range in prices .... Is there better and poorer quality or is this safe to go with the cheaper ones , ??? Any good or bad experiences would be greatly appreciated , would you still use a balancer? thank you

Mine had a cracked tooth going into winter and lost weight quite badly - hes been on Alpha A, conditioning cubes and Micronised Linseed for a few months now - and hes put on weight and is keeping his weight great now.

200grms a day or a mug will do, just add to normal feed should be fine.

Charnwood is the best £18 a bag lasts about 2 months for me!

Yes it is really good, my horse didn't need to put on weight (good doer) but I would give her like two handfuls in chaff twice a day which maintained her well in winter and her coat and skin are so much better, I then changed her onto some hi fibre nuts as it will be spring soon and she has gone all spooky, so I'm going to go back to the linseed even if in tiny amounts as it is really good for horses who get itchy anyway.

So in my view it is not heating although there is always one, a mug a day or two mugs in two feeds. It has omega oils and things in that the grass lacks in winter, but there is no reason you shouldn't use it in summer as well.

It is good for hooves and hair too.

I think the quality is much the same as it is a simple product, I get mine from a local saddlery for 23 pounds a bag and lasted 3 months as she was only having a bit!

I buy Equimins which is a good bit more expensive. How big are the bags as I have 4, 3 are on 1 mug per day and the precious one is one 2 mugs per day.
I wouldn't be without it as it beats the hell out of constant boiling the raw stuff.
