Micronised Linseed

I've just bought a new 20kg bag for £30. The feedstore list it as marriages but it's unbranded white bag. Does seem different to my last lot, more powdery.

I'm fine with seed husks and fibre being in there, the gut bacteria need it and mine don't have it for weight gain. Agree I'm fed up with the mice scattering their poo though.

I keep thinking about going back to boiling it. Evidence now is that you don't need to boil it for hours, you just add boiling water then microwave for 5 mins.

I used to use British Horse Feeds micronised linseed, but swapped to linseed oil. The micronised linseed was making Pidge's feed to bulky, and being so fussy with his Cushings I had to change as he was leaving too much feed

Bring to boil, simmer c.20 mins, or pressure cooker is quick. Just need the seeds to split and produce gloopy jelly, then cool down enough to feed.
You also need tolerant family /housemates!

I use this. It's not micronized but cold pressed- not sure what the difference is but a small amount gives my pony a lovely shiny coat. Delivery is very quick.

I also use this. Works out at £40 with free delivery for 2 x 15kg bags, and I use a code from Instagram to get an extra 10% off

I also use it but you do need to use more to get the same amount of oil. The cold pressing process is where they remove some of the oil and this product is the residue.

Marriages use a different process so it will be different

My vet advised feeding this for my pony's gut. Touch wood it seems to have helped.
