I just want opinions on Micronized Linseed as a weight gainer.

With delivery charges it will cost me nearly £30 a bag. So how long does a bag last? For just one 16.2hh skinny warmblood. And although I've never heard anything but good things about it on the forum, I haven't met anyone in real life who uses it.

So if any of you guys have any pictures of before / after or any advice let me know :D

I used to feed it a lot and it does work but I have swapped to using rice bran now and I'm having much better results with this

I get mine from charnwood mills....and yes, it really is that good :)

Oh 1 bag will last you a while, say 2 heaped mugs a day ( 1 in each feed)
iv got pics but can't post via my phone. Has made a huge difference to my tb. I also use fast fibre to mix it in

I use an espresso cupful a day and that is plenty for mine. The one on box rest gets double and the oldie gets a bit more.

It depends on the horse.

Yes it's amazing. My mare is fussy but she loves it with fast fibre and is the biggest she's ever been, infant I've just had to cut down t a tiny amount because she's too big for my liking. A bag will last me about four months and that's feeding at a rate of two cups a day so does work out cheap. I also do as the others do and that's get my feed merchant to order it for me so I only pay tenty one pounds then. I'd say go for it!

Oh yes fab stuff - one bag lasted me an entire winter last year.

Im not feeding it this year though as my new one was so obese when she came I darent add her anything else :(

There's nothing magical about it. It just contains omegas 3 and 6 at the same balance as grass. So basically you are getting the same benefits of spring grass but without the unpredictable sugar levels.

I have just finished my first bag. Bought from local feed shop on special order for £19 ! I have been using it as a weight gain for an underweight TB. He gets one cup full twice a day. I didn't see a huge amount of difference in his weight for the first few weeks. Following on from advice given on here I took him off his conditioning mix and have moved him ( slowly) to fast fibre and speedibeet with the linseed and the difference has been huge.:D

Can this be used alongside a 'body builder' supplement? (can get brand if required)

Im trying to convince a friend with a 17.2h WB who is just not holding the weight at all!

All 3 are on it. In about 4 weeks, new girly has gone from looking poor to looking very presentable, and it seems to be like feeding lard to Reg he packs on the weight with it. He's a big framed 16.3hh TB, and keeping him looking good takes a lot of food. He gets a cup of linseed in his morning and evening feed and it keeps him looking amazing.

I found it was the only thing to heat up one of mine. No problems with most things - standard heating stuff does nothing to her. One small spoon of linseed and is on her toes.

Micronised linseed. Fed in fast fibre and not much, certainly nowhere near a mugful.
Noticed a difference and did a quick Google and found that a few people had the same.
Never found anything else that heats her up but this.

I feed between 200 - 500 grams per day (620kg WB) in winter. Fab stuff. Really notice a difference if I dont use it, particularly when the horses are changing their coats in autumn and spring. It has an outstanding effect. No doubt about it.

Thank you
Come to think of it he has gone back into his own bully ways and 'face into EVERYTHING' ways recently which could be part due to this 'builder'!! Interesting :)Thanks x

Wonderful stuff! :D

I fed it to my pony to gain weight after her loan home sent her back to me looking like a hat rack

heres the post with pictures of her before and after condition:

Im really happy this year, as iv had no troubles keeping weight on her, she still gets a 50g token amount added to her feed of speedibeet and grass nuts and shes fat as butter!

My TB gets only 100g a day now with his feed (started on 300g and knocked it down as his condition improved) and he has kept his weight on very well. :D
