Mid August weekend plans anyone?

We went to Denbigh and Flint show last Thursday! After Beryls slight case of the nopes at the last very small local show I wasn’t entirely sure how she’d go, but no worries normal Beryl was reinstated and she was mega!

Noisy and busy as you expect for a county show, but she was super. Tiniest bit tense as we were the only ones that turned up for the ridden PBAs, and she does prefer a bit of company in the ring. But she did a super wee show, correct canter leads just needs to build her strength for more self carriage but as she’s five I’ll forgive her that 😜💕.

Judge asked for her to be stripped, so Beryl had to put a bit of extra in her trot out 🤣🙈.

Hung about for the novice hunter but after meeting the carriage horses, dodging a loose horse and giving the PBA champs a go, I decided she’d had enough so brought her home on a good note.

Amber and I spent the weekend at the WES Nationals, and she's come home as Ranch Riding Champion. She placed in every class we did and was good in the arena on Sunday despite being a nightmare to get to and from it, as she could smell where the cattle had been the night before.
She is getting a well-deserved rest after a very busy July and August. I don't have a photo from the show yet, but here's one from our July week in the New Forest, I couldn't get her in a puddle before we went.small NF inter Ali & Amber 23 JUL 2024 -88.jpg

Went to a local charity show with Robin yesterday.

His behaviour was awful. He wouldn't stand still everything was ultra exciting and he was biting all of us. Not something he ever does at home. He hasn't been out to a show for a couple of years as I've had other things going on. His saving grace was that he remembered his manners in the ring, stood out for the judges nicely and trotted up sweetly. Both judges commented that he was a little over weight (podgy and porky were the words of the day) he was not the fattest in the ring by far, but I do take on board that he has a firm crest and could do with loosing a few more pounds (we are following a restricted weight watchers program currently and weight is coming off) so fair comments.

He traveled both ways OK and was good to bath on saturday so we shall chalk our trip out as an educational trip!

Took my little yearling Fizz to her first show yesterday. She loaded and travelled beautifully, and didn’t put a foot out of place all morning as well as doing a lovely show.

Unfortunately she wasn’t well placed by the judge but that’s showing for you! She has a couple of small scuffs and marks on her back legs (typical playful youngster, no splints or anything sinister). The judge advised to not turn out on the hard ground as he thought they were wingalls… ummm no they’re not and I’m not keeping a yearling in 24/7 just because the ground is a bit hard 🫣

Took Nug to the BApS Nationals at Hartpury, and he smashed it!!
1st in 3 inhand classes, took 2 champs and then the Supreme inhand!!
Then had a go at the ridden, and bar one cheeky bronc he was MEGA. For his first time doing classes with canter and proper go-round I am really really pleased. He loved it! ❤️

He looks amazing!

That rug is gorgeous 😍

I know our placings, but I haven't seen our score sheets from Sunday. I've downloaded them, but I don't want to look at them as I'm so pleased with how it felt, and I don't want to change that. Maybe I'll be able to look at them in a week or so when the glow has faded, as I know I need to check what we need to work on.

Late to this but finally went novice last weekend and off to do first FEI on Friday at 1*. Pretty excited about it all as it takes a very long time to produce horses from foals to get up the level and then keep the horse on the road. We also missed two years with cancer and then the horse trying to go blind last year so just very special to both be there and doing it. I have bought myself a ridiculously blingy tail coat but it was a bargain at £80 and fits beautifully. Sometimes things are meant to be as I missed the entries as away in France but luckily they reopened them. It will be very special going down the centre line on Friday with a 100% self produced horse from the very start achieving one of my bucket list experiences. Photos of her at Solihull being awesome. Just sorting out the vlog this week so will get it up hopefully tomorrow.

We've had quite a busy non- competitive week. Quiet hack Friday evening, long hack Saturday morning and tried out first canter through the big woods which was less of a canter and more of a pogo but she at least stayed in a straight line and didn't actively try and get me off. Just a bit giddy.

Had a great lesson Tuesday night in a monsoon. Practised a prelim test just need to get my butt in gear to film it. Only had one dodgy canter transition and we did many 😄
Post lesson ... Absolutely drenched. 🌈

Another super chilled hack this morning where all the traffic took suggestion well about where to stop/ reverse... Makes such a difference rather than drivers just ignoring your (wild) hand gestures and driving at you as if you might just hopefully levitate out of the way.

Little break as I'm off to Blair. Hopefully she won't be too rotund when I get back.
