Great reports and photos. Bit late to this one but we had a good dressage outing at the RC show last weekend. First trip out since the unplanned dismount and injury at camp. I seem to be ok nerves wise with dressage so it was a good way to get us out and about again. I’d ridden both tests once as not very good prep so had low expectations.
We got decent scores despite being a bit ring rusty. The accuracy wasn’t always great and my turns back onto the centre line were off both times - more practice needed. But Bertie was very rideable, not too tense. We had one nappy moment waiting for go in to the arena in the first test. He gets attached to other horses very quickly. But he settled once we got going. He was a bit unsettled after that test so I put him back on the lorry for a bit where he settled. Decided to do no warm up for the 2nd, straight off the lorry, on and into the arena. We were both more relaxed and he did a better test!
We achieved what we wanted with qual scores for the summer champs. 65% for 3rd in test 1 and 67% for 2nd and just off 1st place by 0.2% in the 2nd test. Better scores are def achievable with more accuracy, working on the transitions, and more stretch in the free walk (always lets us down) so I’m feeling positive. I still need to get the hang of balancing the warm up v napping v getting on with the job !
