Hope the E-Riders test goes well AE!
Sunday we are going SJ.
I am going to learn to love it and the only way to do that is do more of it!

I need to tell myself this, hate SJ but if I do it more maybe I will start to enjoy it!

I have a saddle fitting tomorrow.. really hope we find something suitable as have SJ booked for Monday if so!

I'm going to a poles and jump clinic on my pony who hasn't been in a group in an arena in... some time! Fingers crossed for me. I barely jump either.
She's doing a 24km training ride the next day which will be much more her speed, and then the day after I'm taking my new youngster on loan to her first ever social ride. Could be exciting

I have a lesson tomorrow - second one at this yard which I am hoping to go out hacking from after this lesson. Although having stopped the lessons at schoolmaster RS I am wondering if lessons at this place could be good as well, depending how how things go fatigue-wise. The first lesson I had went really well and the instructor paced it just right for me. If I still can't manage proper lessons I'll stick to the private hacks.

Then Monday I have a hack at the other new RS which will be my second hack with them. I really enjoyed the last one even though I did get quite nervous at points, came back with a huge smile on my face and can honestly say I enjoyed riding a more forward-going horse. I'm keeping everything crossed for nicer weather this time though because it was windy and grey last time!

Heading over to Sovereign this evening for a clinic day tomorrow and then I come home without Amber. She's staying for 5 weeks training as my life is just too chaotic at the moment and I need a break.
I'm still utterly conflicted about it but its her home from home and I know she'll be fine. It's just will I cope that's in question :)

All things being well, I'll manage to have an SJ lesson with both boys on Saturday. The older horse is ramping up for the start of the event season, whereas the younger one has just had a shoe back on post abscess, but seems well in himself, so we're hoping to leave the ground for the first time since late August...

Love reading everyone’s plans for inspo! Tomorrow we’re taking coblet to an arena course hire with 2 friends and their ponies, the plan is for my daughter to ride him for the hour although I may jump on and pop a few low cross poles! Hopefully he behaves for her as can get a little too excited, which usually manifests with small bucks and back legs in the air. Saturday I’ll hack him round the lanes, where I’m slowly trying to build some mileage ready for the spring fun rides. Sunday I think he’ll be ready for a day off or I will be anyhow!

So I’ve left the ground! Lesson was a bit frustrating in that I was nervous and rusty, Lottie was super keen and forward. And I reverted to bad old habits to try to deal with the keen bean. Which is annoying as I have not ridden in that handsy, tipping forward, getting tight way for ages. But it’s a start! I improved through the lesson and next time she will be less fizzy and I’ll be less nervous. Gotta start somewhere…

Not a great pic but I can look at it and go yes we DID jump and we didn’t die, so let’s build from there 😁

A chilled weekend hacking for us. Millie had a very (very) lucky escape on Thursday night after she got her foot through a plastic crate that was hidden in a bush in the field. It was a very stressful 20 minutes because I was initially on my own, but I managed to summon help from my dad who cut her out with a fairly standard knife and a lot of strength.

She got away without so much as a scratch, which if you’d seen how she had initially panicked, is fairly miraculous!

Little Madam was cleared for a breeding attempt by the vet last night, so we will be doing our last SJ competition for a while on Sunday.
I'll also be riding Enormosaurus for her first ever competition in a diddy 60cm class. It's at the riding school she's liveried at, so on known territory but with all the excitement of a competition. I'm more worried about squishing the small ponies that will inevitably be in the warm up (though I have ridden her in group lessons/on the margins of lessons with shetlands, so at least she's used to littlies). If all goes well, I'll have to have a chat with her owner and my instructor to see if we can come to a more formal agreement.
I'll be taking puppy along for some socialisation as well.

Yep! Not an experience I ever want to repeat.
The star of the whole thing was Polly, who was loose in the field but despite Millie’s panic, sensed we were in a seriously bad situation and came over and just stood very calmly next to Millie, which kept her still and quiet while my dad hacked away at the crate. I swear that horse has a human brain. I don’t think I’ve ever loved her quite as much as I did in those few minutes!

Millie was back out hacking this morning

Very scary scats. I had to disentangle fishing line from a horse once (fly tipped - nowhere near water) & fortunately she stood still. Leg through a box I'm not sure would have been so easy. Relieved you're both ok.

Been dithering over whether to have vets back out to baby cob after he tweaked something when the hunt came past 3 weeks ago. He saw the vet a few days later and was prescribed rest, drugs and steady return to work but my normal practice closed suddenly so my plan of sending her a video won't work any more.

Shot intro C today and thought he felt "ok" but was above the contact all the way round. Compared it to Xmas video of same test and there is a huge difference. Could just be fitness but I think I need another check up.

It would be nice to have at least one sound horse amongst 3!!

Have fun all. We're off games for a while as stoopid horse thought grass was greener in the next field and jumped over. Unfortunately didn't quite clear both lines of fence about 90 cm apart and got caught up in the second line - didn't expect an oxer! Managed to strain a ligament in his stifle so now turned out in a very small stable sized paddock electrified like Jurassic Park. The anti-inflammatories are working but think it's going to be a few weeks before he can restart doing anything

I've started hacking D out with 2 reins one on the head collar one on the bit, I just had a feeling she might prefer it and she so much more chilled and polite off the bitless option. Not sure why but she waits and moves over when asked, jogs less. Haven't trialled it with her exciting hacking friends yet though. I should probably check her bit anyway for schooling to see if she'd prefer something else although her contact is still pretty green so I haven't wanted to faf about to much (teeth are good).

A hack sounds lovely though so don’t be despondent HP, I’m at an age now with mild fibromyalgia that a bad night sleep really knocks me for six!
Coblet is still off games as is still stiff with his back legs, we’re putting it down to messing about in a v. Muddy field last week with the 2 mares, I’ve been giving him Boswelia and devils claw in his feed to reduce any inflammatory response and hasn’t been ridden now since Wednesday. He lives out so is keeping moving and is appropriately rugged. At what point do I call the vet out?

Thank you. I go on my own and am always conscious of needing to be on form. Similarly I know I am going for me, not the horse‘s benefit. Hope you get Coblet sorted.

I should start doing some online dressage I think.

Went on a lovely picnic hack today D was a super lead pony. Had an odd\ funny encounter with a man with a bin and a dog who thought I shouldn't be telling her how brave she was for calmly leading everyone past the loud moving bin and dog that raced out to meet us because she hesitated and gave him the side eye 👀😅 need to do a Red1 and start putting the bins out on horseback. We went over the little bridge as well for the first time as someone had parked across the ford and she only stood on my toe briefly the first time and was a doll the second. Super proud today as she was so chill 😎 even when I wasn't

Entered an E-Riders dressage test. I forgot to salute (-2), forgot to introduce Lottie (-2) and my camera-person did not zoom in for the stuff at A (-2). Oh dear!

But I have uploaded the test anyway for the comments. And it can only improve from there....
They're quite forgiving! I'm sure there's been the odd judge eye roll when I forget which month or year it is - or even my name....

Did everyone need a boat today for anything useful? My field has ducks on it.

Everything hacked in walk up the road because the bridleway is totally flooded. Very dull but at least it was a leg stretch I suppose.

I had a lovely day away with lots of cocktails and far too much food which is my favourite sort of day.

The SJ today; a clear but unruly round in the 90cm, feeling very cocky!
Decided to jump the 1m, which was built pretty big! But we went and jumped it, a few rails to start as still unruly but jumped the 2nd half clear and much better.
As I said on the way home, we've now jumped it, next is to practice this height and jump it better.
Neither of us are natural SJers but he really had his ears pricked today and I didn't get nervous so came home very happy.

Hot hot hot outing for Rooni yest. Bit of a trek for me but thankfully worthwhile. 67% Inter 1 and 69% Inter 1 music with mistakes in both. Pleased with that 😁 No pics as went on my own but here are my epic plaits!

Rainy hacking today and now he will have a few days off, not competing for a while now.

Enormosaurus did really well for her first competition and we didn't squash any ponies! I planned for a very long warn up to give her time to get used to the atmosphere: music, people, horses, dogs, vehicles everywhere. But she was pretty good (we had a mini bunny hop when we first entered the warm up) so we mainly just walked a lot. We went clear on the round that I mainly jumped in trot but we did canter the last two jumps. She was very well behaved, so I hope she keeps it up.
Little Madam was brilliant for the first six jumps and then we had a misunderstanding on the stride for number seven, meaning she took it in her knees. She carried on gamely over number eight but number nine was a double (our nemesis) and she decided she wasn't playing any more, which is fair enough. We re-jumped number one and retired. I'm so annoyed at myself, I wanted a nice round for our last. My instructor is leaving the round up for a few days, so we will reattempt it in the week, probably at a lower height.
