I'm 99% sure this horse is MW. He is rising 6, and somewhere in the region of 17 - 17.2h.
He is due to go showing this summer, and he is currently hunting, lightly schooling and hacking. He loves to work and can be a right clown to 'do'!! Bless him.
He comes with an unfortunate name too.

I'm not very good at this photography lark!
Equally, I'm not sure IF he will be any good at doing a few shows, but we want to give it a go!! I know he will have to be in 'more show condition', these photos do show him a bit tucked up. He was out all day on Tuesday.
Not sure if this is any better;

He is a hansom chap, everyone who meets him likes him. He was destined to meet his maker not that long ago, and got his name from that.

Findus ! oh my word. Think positively though he is the same colour as a fish finger.

If you are aiming at open classes he looks like a middle. If you have a go at the amateurs most County Shows split them into two at 13 stone. He would be in the heavy section. Addington Festival of the Hunter has 3 weights for amateurs, I think Windsor does as well, RIHS has 3 weights.

His tum is fine, you don't want a gut on him. Concentrate on the top, his bum needs more muscle as does his loin. This might be doing him an insult but he looks like he has a wedge of muscle under his neck and is possibly thick through the gullet. Lots of long stretchy work and hills. He wants more muscle on the top of his neck. Think bulk and uphill power rather than fat.

Here is a picture of my amateur hunter (middle) first one is him in work but not in show condition, the second one is in show condition. Weight wise he is only 20/30kg heavier in the second picture. He is 17.2.

The length in his back can be helped with muscle, a straight cut saddle pushed back and a discreet sheepskin (the colour of the horse) protruding slightly at the cantle. A nice jacket with a slightly longer cut is flattering too. The other thing that will shorten his back is a foot off the bottom of his tail and beautifully pulled.

Good luck with him.

He is the most beautiful horse I've seen in a while! I'm in love.

Op your horses name is brilliant did you name him? His a lovely horse and with a bit more top line he will be great, and there are so many tricks you can use in showing to help disguise things.

Adorable Alice your horse is gorgeous I have pmd you about something you may be able to help me.

Love your Findus, FM. I bet when he's muscled up some more, he'll do you proud.

We had a Findus too! OH nicknamed our RSPCA foster filly Findus! I didn't tell the rescue centre this when she went back, as I wasn't sure that they would be amused. (Now she really DID have a long back, think 14.2hh body on 13hh legs....).

Other half just phoned from M40 - "I am 40 minutes from home, starving, fancy fish fingers, chips and peas".

I am well and truly spooked now !

Mine is Selle Francias, I would think Findus is Irish ?. My lad is by Qyou De Longvaut (Alme and I Love You)
so bred to be a very good showjumper. He came into the UK in 2003 as a very sour jumper and was produced as a dressage horse by a dealer in Surrey. He was a stallion until he was 9. I bought him as a dressage horse in 2004 as a gelding. He was a stress head to start with and had never been turned out, but once he adapted he just bloomed and I realised he was rather nice.

He retired from competition aged 17 and promptly broke down messing about in his paddock. He is field sound now after 11 months box rest. I love these two pictures, he had a little ancient girlfriend helping him get through his problems. He loved her, she hated him most of the time. The picture of him down was when he was very unwell, she never left his side. He will be 21 this year and will never leave me.

I think we should have a *ask AA thread* with all our showing questions, hints and tips :)
What a beautiful horse!

PS i love the name *Findus*! :D

Hunters, cobs and hunter youngstock only ! wouldn't know a good show pony if it trod on my foot and as for coloured horses not a blooming clue. I look at a coloured and imagine it bay in my mind and then assess the conformation.

What are we showing Ted the Twit in ? we need a new class for anxious cart horses.
