Just seen the news above on BBC website. What a terrible accident . Deepest condolences to all those concerned.

It bears repeating how dangerous horses can be at times, regardless how well we think we know them.

What a dreadful story. It is one of my worst nightmares a horse panicking in transit. Difficult to deal with in an enclosed space. Poor family.

Poor man. What a dreadfully sad story. Just shows how dangerous an agitated horse can be, no matter how well you know them. How awful for the mother and daughter. My sincere sympathies to them.

This is so sad for the family but when I hear of these stories I fear for the horse concerned, I once owned a very good pony that had killed his rider it was a freak accident but the pony suffered 100% after the event nobody wanted him and was branded as a child killer and subsequently dumped in a field. My dad worked for a rescue charity and he brought him home - he was probably my best pony ever!!

I hope how ever hard it is for the family that the horse is either forgiven or sold on......as others have said horses can freak out totally out of the blue - such a tragic accident.
