Midges Attacking Sheath help wanted please

My appy is a fewspot and so pale and pinky. The midges attack his sheath so it becomes quite swollen.

I have used Nettex Itchstop in the green and white pot but it seems to make it swell a bit -Neem oil was not good. Any ideas???
 
Yes I have an idea!!! I also had an appy with pink sheath who got attacked mercilessly by these evil minute devils...

I tried yellow cream, itchstop, that EXPENSIVE ruggles stuff...... you know what worked??????

Vinegar! You rub it a solution of ACV with a bit of citronella/eucalyptus oil and add 50ml of ACV only to his feed twice a day.
 
Both. You rub it on but mix it with some citronella or eucalyptus oil (shake it together in a little bottle).

You can also add just the ACV to his feed. :)

p.s. make sure it is unpasteurised apple cider vinegar though as the pasteurised stuff doesn't contain the enzymes which midges and flies don't like.

I give a wipe over with mossie wipes including up inside his back legs and in front of his sheath, seems to work.
On the subject of sheaths, someone on here suggested squirting baby oil to
clean it, IT WORKS saves so much chasing him round with rubber gloves, thanks to that poster
 
I agree Tallyho - sudocrem is the way forward! OP if you spread it on fairly liberally, it creates a barrier the midges can't seem to get through to bite. Plus it has a soothing effect on existing bites/swelling too.
