So the earlier post about where have all the sharers gone got me thinking... so have had a little web search tonight for horses to share. Nothing out there yet though, one lovely sounding horse near Lowestoft but that's a bit far for me to go

Has anyone got positive sharing experiences to motivate me? I am still wary after being ripped off before... but am missing being around neds! Life is incredibly stressful right now and a bit of neddy time could be a big help

Oh and if anyone knows of anything, I'm looking for 15hh+, fairly sensible (don't expect perfection though!) and nice hacking. Will do chores and contribute, sometimes flexibility may be needed on days due to work but I don't mind this going both ways if you see what I mean.

Yes, I was a sharer for a while when I was at Uni and it worked really well for me. My friend now has her own horse but used to be a sharer and it worked for her. That said, I've seen some really shocking sharers on our yard who don't know what they're doing and can't ride.

There are a couple of people on my yard who share - in fact 3 in total. 2 of them get along fine 1 always has more problems but then is the type of person that will always have problems if you know what I mean.

Why not put up some signs in your local feed/tack shops and go to a couple of local yards to get to know people.

I'm sure you will find someone with a nice horsey to share soon.

I'm in norfolk too so will keep an eye out for you if you like?
I'm a sharer, have been for 4 months and absolutely love it! Would obviously like my own when i can afford it, but for now this is definately the next best thing. Pay half his livery and shoes and have him 3 days a week and can pretty much do whatever i like. It's a fantastic yard too with great facilities and hacking.
Have you looked in Adrader? As that's where i found mine and know quite a lot get posted in there. Also, as someone else said maybe put an advert in your local tack shop? As i said i'll keep an eye out and let you know if i hear of anything, which side of norfolk ae you?

I'm in South Norfolk, kind of Diss / Attleborough way. Thanks for the offer, it would be great if you wouldn't mind keeping an eye out!

I hadn't looked in the adtrader yet, might have a look this weekend though.

ETA thanks also to Bex

Ah ok cool, thats near where my share horsey's kept :-)
You can go on www.ad-trader.co.uk and then i think horses and then i think horses to loan and you can put in your location/postcode to bring the ones up near you.
I didn't realise this when i was looking for mine and went out and bought the paper, but i'm sure the same adverts are online as what is in the paper!

I'm a sharer and love it but I think the key is to get on with the other human half as well as the horse. The owner has two and we often hack together and the best thing is she is the one person I can rave on about horse to who won't get bored!!

I pay just under half livery and half shoes and have 3 days a week officially but have been offered more days on quite a few weeks.

It suits me 'cos I have a busy job with variable income. I'd love my own but this is the best possible comprimise for me.

I'm a sharer, and at the moment everything is going brill! The lady who owns him doesn't ride very often as she has 2 little children and struggles with time, so it works out really well.

However, I have had bad experiences myself. The share I had before, started to take the p**s after a while, and I began to not enjoy going up.

I've found the best way to find a share is by word of mouth, but also found horsemart is quite good.
When deciding on a share you have to make that you not only get on with the horse but also the owner as you have to have a relationship with them for it to work.
Thats what I've found anyway.
Sorry for the little essay.

Just out of interest/curiosity can i ask how they started to take the pee?
Know totally what you mean about having to get on well with the owner too, my share horse's owner is so lovely bless her, get on really well which was the main thing i was worried about!
