2 years ago our beloved labradors died in the same week (one had a stroke and had to be pts and the other just weakened to a state of not being able to move. Broken heart for he life long partner we assume!)

A family friend runs a boarding kennel and a client left a black lab in for two weeks and never came back. They just phoned to say they have got a new job and don't want to take the dog, so get rid of it. So poor Rocky the 9yo lab has been abandoned in kennels!

Going to see him today and he will come home for a trial, and he will need to pass it as we have too many vulnerable animals to worry about! (cats, chooks, mini horses...)

Wish me luck x

Heres a pic :)

Oh bless him poor boy abandoned at 9 years old. Hope trial goes well and he gets a loving home to see out his final days. We are getting our new girl on friday as her owners cant keep her now they have had a baby.

God what awful, spineless owners

Bet they didn't pay either did they?

He looks like a cracking dog, at least you should be able to get a history from his awful owners, fingers crossed he fits in :)

Oh my goodness, how gutless of the original owners.

On the plus side, he is gorgeous and a lucky boy to be chosen by you :D

They also had just had a baby, so typical dog is chucked out! Crazy people. They had brought him over from holland, to dump him here!

Hes a total babe, so lovely. Has fit right in already.

Newest member of my family. He is very placid and calm, as soon as he got here did his marking (and a poop) he went into the lounge and lay on the floor lol hes now lying outside in the sun :)

Poor old lad :( How lucky for him that you have taken him on, I bet he'll give you a few years of love in return. He's a lovely looking lad.

Looks just like my old lady, lab x collie, and shes been an absolutely great dog for the last 13years! Loyal obedient but greedy :)...Glad you're giving him a go, good luck.

Ah, great news, looks like he's landed on his feet well.

Stupid people, baby + dog is a great combination, gets you out of the house and fresh air, and best of all, when you start weaning, dogs help make it look less like someone's just chucked the contents of your kitchen around the room. My dogs limits pear, he don't eat pear, he will eat raw pepper though! :D

Haha, Totally true! Our beautiful old black lab was purchased when i was stuck at home with a baby. Best thing ever apart from the food/mess limitation (well possibly, there are two ways of looking at that theory!!!) yes it got us out of the house and walking/talking to other people, especially great as we'd just moved to a new area when my daughter was 6 wks old.

OP- He looks lovely and i wish you the best of times with him x
