I may be jumping the gun a bit here, but have a gut feeling that I may need a rider in the New Year for our WB. Think someone may be going "abroad" and can see me being left with a horse far too talented for me.

Now, I need some help.....am not sure I want to put him out on loan, but then again, would someone want to ride him from our yard? He's a bit quirky so would need someone very experienced and there would be the possibility to compete if they wanted/were capable, but would that type of person want to take him to their yard? I'm just trying to be a bit prepared.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

i used to compete a horse for someone and i rode it from their yard. it wasnt a problem, but i realised it was a strain doing my own on one yard and trawling over to the other for 1 horse was time consuming.
i now ride another horse for the same person but they keep it at my yard as it is so much easier.
if you can find someone that is experienced and doesnt have their own horse ( maybe a student that gave up own horse for uni or something) then it shouldnt be a prob staying where he is

A friend of mine competes a horse for someone else from it's own yard, so I think you might be able to find someone. If it's a good horse, someone local might be willing to do it.

My friend is not a professional, but a competitive amateur. She doesn't charge for her time, but the owner pays all the entry fees, and keeps the horse fit, so she just goes over to school it once or twice a week, then takes it on her lorry to competitions.

I do know professionals who are willing to school/compete horses from other people's yards, but they do get paid for their time. If the horse looks like it's going to be really good, they usually manage to persuade the owner to let them have it at their own yard in the end!

I need a competitive amateur that is prepared to take him on pretty much full time as he's far too much horse for me.

Don't want to give our too much detail, would rather pm people who are interested, but basics are 17.2, 12 yr old gelding, competing medium.

Hi
I think from the messages that your horse is a dressage horse, can't be sure though? But if he was an eventer we would be interested in competing him for you. My partner is a serious amateur and has competed to advance level eventing. We have two warmbloods in competition at the moment - one youngster due to go novice next season but the other intermediate is going into semi retirement so have the capacity to compete something else. We are looking for a youngster ideally as a third horse to own, but are always interested in competing for other owners. We are based in Wiltshire - in terms of where horse stays that is all the sort of thing to discuss - we are very flexible. The question remains - is your horse an eventer or pure dressage??!
