Was on old yard for 4 years - happy, great bunch of liveries then a different member of the family took over & turned it into a complete hell hole (ended up with RSPCA being called). All but 1 of the liveries left at the same time beginning of June. Moved to temporary accomodation in a friend's field for 4 weeks then moved to current yard. Got told this morning it is changing hands & at the moment I have no idea who is taking over or what is happening. Current YM suspects they know who will be taking over & if they are correct it is someone I have good reason not to trust. Oh how I hope they are wrong as there is no way I could stay on a yard if this person is running it.

Best you get your head down then and start looking for alternative accommodation as it sounds as though you will not be a happy livery if this potential person takes over the running of the yard.

You don't want to be unhappy and be worrying unduly, so i'd be doing some homework and visiting some yards very soon!

Good Luck, hope you find somewhere suitable soon enough, as it's awful when you and your horse aren't in a happy place.

HC - Are you stabled in R? I have heard there is a yard there that has gone downhill.. Where have you enquired? I might be able to help.

It's such a pain finding spaces for 2 with decent turnout (aka any in winter!) round here. Going to try & get hold of (totally non horsey) YO tonight to try & find out what is happening. Typically I'm doing TREC this weekend so won't be around much Sat & Sun. Just managed to get a really nice sharer as well so things were looking really settled at last.

I know how you feel OP. I l wont write why on here in case it's seen, but feel free to PM me if you want a sympathetic ear and to hear my story x

Oh dear! My old yard was taken over by someone who conned the YO basically into letting her run the yard in return for free bed and board for her own horse. To cut a long story short I left after being there 8 years (there were other reasons too, but she probably would have tried to get me thrown off if I hadn't gone of my own accord, although the YO and I were good friends and I don't think she would have succeeded). Self-appointed YM was robbing the YO of food and bedding on the grand scale, letting her kids treat paying customers like rubbish, I could go on and on. I would suggest you speak to your friend again and see if you can have another period of temporary grazing with her which at least will buy you some breathing space. Its a useful safety net and with a bit of luck you won't have to use it.

Why not use the TREC outing to put out feelers too? Someone there may be able to help you.

I'm trying not to go into temp acommodation again as Jason was very unsettled by the last set of moves and is still not quite settled. This TREC is a bit outside my home area so prob won't be able to pick up useful info there, but I am at camp for 3 days next week so can put feelers out there. I have already had a couple of offers of temp places (including friend from last time) but nothing that could see me into the rapidly approaching winter.
Going to try & catch the YO tonight but apparently he won't tell departing YM (who rented whole yard & ran spare stables as DIY livery) who is taking over - the first she knew was when he gave her notice a couple of days ago.
