I have recently bought a mare that overnight displayed signs of ulcers, became very angry and not herself at all.

After scoping and discovering mild ulcers, she is now on Gastroguard. Should I stop the Dengie Chaff and Top Spec balancer she is used to eating? And change to ulcer friendly chaff and balancer? Obviously she has ad lib hay and turnout.

Thank you.

Look for a soft molasses free chaff, no lush grass and dry haylage. constant forage, no stress, loads of turn out and be 100% her back and legs are sound. a syringe of ponease ulc maintanence daily and before riding will help prevent acid splashes too

Did she have treatment for the ulcers? What did the vet recommend? I would ask them in the first instance as they know her history
