I am giving my horse the human tablets that are on BOGOF at Tesco but I suppose the dose is too small for a horse.I give two tablets in each feed.Which is the best horse version.I am only feeding it because we had one once that when a post mortem done on a horse that died and it had liver damage.I always worry that there is something in the field that damages the liver.A couple of bits of ragwort grow but we always dig it up.Is there anything else I should be looking for?

Sunnymum / box of frogs (?!) uses this on Angel - we sent it to them from Burghley.

Angel had over 70% liver damage when she came to us but to look at her now you would never know.

Hi carthorse. D&H do a big tub of high quality dried milk thistle for horses. Without sounding like an advert for D&H they also prepared me an individual diet plan for Angel and detailed advice on supporting her remaining liver function. As Llwyncwn says (so sensitively!) you should see the condition on her now! {{shuffles nervously as condition is another word for weight}}. D&H are hugely customer-focused too (a credit that such a large organisation can still offer such individual, small scale customer care) and if you get let down by your local feed store who forget to order it even though asked about 5 million times {steam comes out of ears} can STILL arrange for an emergency tub to be sent direct to the owner's home. D&H...you're the best! Carthorse, hope it helps: think its about £9 a tub and the tub lasts me about 3 months with a scoop twice a day. If ever you wanna natter about ragwort and liver damage, pm me xxx

You can also get ground milk thistle seeds from EquusHealth through most decent tack shops, or get whole seeds and grind fresh as you need them - I understand that the seeds are the most potent/useful part of the plant?

Personally I'm all for labour-saving now and buy the ready-ground seeds for my mare; I used to get to the yard and realise I'd left the grinding mill at home! Duh.

Hope this helps.
