Thinking of putting my ISH mare to Mill Law : has anyone experience of breeding a foal by him? His offspring are doing pretty well in eventing, an would be especially interested in any first hand experience of temperament, etc, of his foals ... My mare has just bred a lovely foal by a Brendons Stud warmblood stallion, Caretino Glory, but he's BIG, and she had quite a hard time post birth with a tear in the birth canal. Would like to put her to a TB/TBX next time to produce a smaller and lighter foal, and as she was an eventer, thought of Mill Law. Thoughts, please!

I've met two offspring of Mill Law's and they're both lovely horses, just started their eventing career and I believe are now doing well. I think Mill Law is a fantastic stallion, I went to see him to consider him for my mare, and if she wasn't such a delicate little waif I think I would've gone with him too.

I know two, only young youngsters but both a bit plain even though mare (ID x) was quite nice. They were both big at birth, it was lucky she was a big mare, we had a job with the first one, if we hadn't been there it was quite likely that we would have lost either one or both the foal and mare, as it is, he's a big bouncing lad!
I have heard though don't know how true it is, that the potency of his sperm falls off towards the end of the season (at least it did last year, so they might have fixed it by now) but if that is the case, might be better if you send your mare early in the year rather than from now onwards if that makes sense.
There are so many by him about it makes you think they won't all be good, some could end up very run of the mill types (excuse the pun!) so not as valuable as they could be and I personally think there are a lot nicer stallions about to choose from, good as he is. Hope this helps.

My ADV mare has just had her first foal by mill law,he's 7 weeks old was a little weak and windswept but he was kept in and is fine now.
He has the most lovely tempement is very laid back and easy to deal with, she's been AI again with him, i'm very pleased with him is a lovely big 1st foal.

I have a Mill Law 3yo who is actually living with Sue Browne and being shown for them at the moment. He is lovely has the most fabulous temperament and is your proper eventer stamp. Out of an ISH mare. He's big though and always has been and we actually lost a Mill Law foal as it was being born last year due to it getting stuck so he does tend to throw them quite big.

Fabulous stallion though - can't ask for better results from him and now his progeny. My boy has done very well showing with them this season as has his half brother who they are also showing as a 2yo and tehir 2 foals by him.

Thanks so much everyone! Food for thought, especially as people say that the first foal is supposed to be SMALLER than subsequent ones. I wonder if I should look at other stallions if Mill Law tends to throw large foals. I really want her to have an easier time next year, poor old thing.
Suggestions welcome!

Sally1's stallion Groomsbridge May I is full TB but smaller, as is Weston Justice. May I has been put to some good event mares and had soem lovely babies. Weston Justice's record speaks for itself
