The time has come to find Millie a loan home :(

She has had a fab year with LJ and it has made one thing clear in my mind, I will not let her waste her life as a field companion again, this pony lives to work, I owe it to her to find her the BEST loan home I possibly can!!

So I need to get an advert sorted  I advertised her for loan a couple of years ago and didn't manage to get one person to come and try her so I think I really need help with this!

This is as far as I have got -

12hh, 12 year old, Chestnut mare.

Has done PC, hunted, local shows, funrides and XC. Loves to work. Snaffle mouthed at all times. Would suit confident child that wants to go out and have fun. Not suitable for beginners/novices!

Help Please!! What else do I need to add?

I would add in about:
-hacking- alone/company?
-traffic?
-good to box/clip/catch/shoe?
-is she nice natured in the stable?
- any special health considerations?
-how far away can she move?
-Why are you loaning her?

Make sure you put in good pictures.

Good luck! How come LJ isn't riding her anymore?

Nothing constructive to add about the advert wording, just wanted to say I think Millie always looks like such an awesome pony, any child will be lucky to get her. Maybe write the ad, pop in a couple of pics of Millie and Little Jockey and send it round the pony clubs in your area. They may know someone suitable.

Ohh thankies, will add all of the above!

Pictures are not a problem as I am sure you know I have millions :p

She'll ride her until I find a loan home for her.

It looks like everyone has given you some great help with your ad. If you need help finding a home for Millie try advertising her on www.TheEquineTrader.com website. Advertising a horse on loan is free and you can include pictures and unlimited text. Best of luck finding her a new home.

If you can find her some stilts, I'd have her! Just I think my feet would drag on the ground otherwise :o
Unless she was ever really naughty, I'd say 'not for beginners/novices as I would like her to be competing/used to her full potential' or something like that? It sounds less off-putting and would make me more inclined to view (if I was a few foot shorter!)
In fact, I'm sure I can hunt down a racing saddle and find a way to make it all work, so just post her to me! :D

Lol, If I could make her bigger she wouldn't be going anywhere!

I don't know how to word the not for beginners bit, she can be quite moody to handle if she is not worked regularly and will very occasionally throw in the odd playful buck, I think she would take advantage of a complete beginner.

I don't want to put people of before they even phone up!

Right I've added to it a bit, how does it sound now?

12hh, 12 year old, Chestnut mare.

Has done PC, hunted, local shows, fun rides and XC. Loves to work. Snaffle mouthed at all times, never strong or silly.

Prefers to hack in company but would also hack alone.

Would suit confident child that wants to go out and have fun.

She is great to load and very easy to catch.

Will live in or out but grazing will need to be restricted as she is a good doer.

Not suitable for beginners/novices as she can be a bit marish at times!

For loan as current rider has outgrown her.

Sounds good! I'd give a bit more detail about what she has done. You say she has done PC, so give more details - rallies, camp, teams? How has she done at the shows she has been to - placed, won, jumped clear? What height has she jumped at shows? Is she bold XC - will she jump ditches and go through water happily?

I'd ditch the bit about no beginners/being marish and just expand the sentence further up to say:

"Would suit a confident, competent child that wants to go out and have fun".

I would say your selling her short from those ads. From the pics I've seen of her (and they have been many!!) she looks absolutely fab, a real fun pony with a huge jump to boot. I imagine you will have people knocking your door down.

Also how is she to shoe/clip etc? The things that AREN'T mentioned in the ad are always what I'm more aware of!

Lol, they aren't mentioned as she's not great

She is very tricky with new farriers, it takes her a long time for her to trust them so I thought it was better not to mention it. I'll obviously tell them about it if they phone up though. She is only shod on front and we always managed to get her done but it's a two person job until she gets used to the farrier. I was hoping the person that loans her would let me visit and help the first couple of times their farrier visits.

Clipping can be a problem, she is quite ticklish. Some days I can clip her without much problem, other times she's a nightmare. Again we always manage to get her done and I would be happy to go and clip her for the loanee or at least go and help!

That's why I'm worried know one will want her, she a Fab ride but does have a few issues on the ground! :(

Lots of great ideas, thanks all.

I'll take out the novice bit and go with TGM's suggestion.

Lilly1 - It's funny isn't it, before LJ started riding her she was advertised for almost a year, I had 3 phone calls all from complete novices :( I guess at the time she had not 'done' all the stuff she has now but I always knew she had the potential to do it, I'm just hoping more people are interested this time!

i think she'll make someone a FAB pony. she always looks amazing in pics you posr.

good luck, and keep bumping this post up, cos think how lovely it'd be if someone on here had her.

how does the advert read now? and can we see what pics you're going to use?

also, try preloved.co.uk x

Contact local pony clubs they are always looking for horses like this.
thats what i was thinking
she looks a smashing pony....my young son is still on L/R
Dont give up im sure theres a small jockey out there who would love a pony like her

chestnuts can be a little more skin senitive about clipping

This is the ad now CCP -

FOR LOAN – Fun Allrounder

12hh, 12 year old, Chestnut mare that loves to work.

Has done PC Camp, Hunted with the Ludlow, local shows, fun rides and XC (will jump hedges, ditches and goes through water).

Snaffle mouthed at all times, never strong or silly.

Happily Jumps 3ft and with more competition experience could easily affiliate. (<<<< I'm not sure about this bit?!)

Prefers to hack in company but would also hack alone.

She is great to load and very easy to catch.

Will live in or out but grazing will need to be restricted as she is a good doer.

Would suit confident, competent child that wants to go out and have lots of fun, she has loads to offer!

For loan as current rider has out grown her.

That sounds good, but maybe just say 'affiliate' rather than 'easily affiliate' ? Otherwise someone might think shes competition ready right now.

Other than that, if only she could streeeeetch than she'd have a home with me :D

Oh CCP i forgot to say what piccys I used. I've done an ad on an A4 piece of paper (to put around local tack shops) so have been able to use 5 small photos

I think they came up as the most popular apart from the hunting one as I don't think I posted it earlier!

These 2 are up at the top either side of the 'for Loan' heading
