Milton Keynes Vs Eland Lodge

I havent done Eland but done MK 3 or 4 times. MK change the cours a lot but sometimes I think the intro is quite tricky. Last year all the pros complained, and they took a combination of down bank to skinny roll top on an angle out!

E land, by all reports, is meant to be nice and inviting. I was told nice for first PN with mine so hopefully ok!

Also, MK has big long hill to finish up, I THINK eland is flatter so easier to keep them running for home

Depends which Mk event you do. The course will be fairly inviting at Mk1, quite testing for MK2 and somewhere in between the two for MK3.
I personally dont have any probs with MK intro but then its my local so I school round it a lot.
The drop to roll top (know it well) is generally numbered 4 and 5. The drop is very wide allowing peeps to jump down on the left side then circle round to the right to jump the roll top.
I have taken this option before and it does jump well.
Will cost time but thats probably the whole point.

Not been to Eland so cant comment on that one

This is the fence in question but in this pic is numbered A & B

I too have done it- rides fine but using it as an example of why it may be tricky as a first event.
Also, when I did it it was to the right of the other fence at a very sharp angle- think thats why it was taken out/moved.

Thanks for that 4F - it doesn't look that bad (perhaps the photo!) I'd just have to be accurate. We are ok with straight lines but tight turns are a bit beyond us still - she tends to 'lock on' to something which could make for a very interesting round

The MK 23-24 June event - guess that would make it the II and therefore the trickier one?

Thanks Holly. See your point - not to bad when on a straight line but a drop to a skinny on an angle is not really a fair 'intro' question - and def not for a first one. V likely to go sailing right past it

Yep it would so probably not the best bet for a first intro.
That said the course is open for schooling from mid feb onwards so plenty of opportunity to have a play before you decide.
Happy to come along with ned and guide you round the likely course (any excuse to play XC).

Mmmm - that sounds like a fab offer!

Shall we see if there would a group that might be interested in a school round?
Perhaps End of March time?

Sounds good to me. Just yell when ready

Eland Lodge has a few questions at Intro - last year there was a lot of problems at the sunken road and down the steps (white gravel!!).

MK can have a few questions too.

Not sure I would opt for either as a first Intro - have you thought about Keysoe?

Broadway is a nice first intro, but consequently the 2nd one balloted LOADS last year!! also Draycott is lovely. Up to height and well dressed fences but not too tricky

I was 4th so cant be bad!

I hate the SJ at eland the surface i don't like anyway but the warmup is rubbish and you either have to go on the grass with not much room or in the cut off end of the arena with even less room!!

The courses at both MK and EL would be very similar standard wise.

I am another that would say have a look at Keysoe for your first intro, less trappy than Eland or Milton Keynes. Winkburn Intro was fairly straight forward. Another one to look at instead of the MK2 would be Marchington which is the same weekend. Aston le Walls in July is very straight forward too.
