I am thinking of buying a minature horse and was wondering if anyone on here has them to offer any advice on breeding lines, where to buy etc. Basically any advice would be great.
I would like to show the pony, and needs to be handled by a child as well.

I am only experienced with the bigger variety!.

I don't have any experience personally, but my mare was bred by a lady who now breeds miniatures. I have spoken with her a couple of times about my mare and she seemed very friendly and helpful.

Her website is:

I realise this is a bit the other end of the country, and I don't know if these miniatures are what you are looking for - but it may be a starting point!

Good luck!

Be very, very careful about laminitis. Minis are incredibly good doers. Mine is a 8hh Falabella x shetland - apart from watching his waistline, he is treated exactly like any other horse. If you go for a purebred Falabella, they can have problems with their teeth - my horse dentist was telling me that basically their jaws have been bred too small to accommodate their teeth.

Asolutely agree - they have no idea how small they are and can suffer from short person syndrome if you let them.

I have a miniature stallion and I'm already at the point of cutting his feed and any minute now he will have to have his grazing muzzle back on.

They need a job too, teach them to lunge and long line. You can do in hand jumping with them and boy can some of them jump!! Take them for walks and see how much attention you get!!

Best bit of advice I can give is NO TITBITS.

I bought mine from here
