Hello!

I moved my pony in Minchinhampton (nearer from home) last week and really struggle finding bridleway with no main road involved!
I went on the main road yesterday (60miles/hour road) as I couldn't find any bridleway near the yard where we are now :-( and I got really scared with a lorry which nearly hit us...avoided us at the last minute, didn't slow down and nearly hit a car coming from the other way.
I had my hi viz tabard "please pass wide and slow" + hi viz exercise sheet but so many cars/lorry didn't slow down it was appealing...

Help please!!!
PM me if easier :-)

Thank you:-)

I know Minchinhampton Common, and surely there must be bridleways round/across there? Have you tried buying an OS Explorer map of the area?

I have an OS map of the area and went on the Common yesterday after work but if someone would like to show me around would be great as there must be some tracks/quiet lanes I haven't seen on the map to avoid the main road! :-) (I hope so anyway!)

Well where exactly in minch are you? I know a nice long one around the top of chalford and cherrington way. And there is a back way to ciren park if the horse is fit enough to go there and back. I would offer to show you personally but the horse is a bit nervous hacking out at the moment so when all issues are resolved we could meet up

Omg you are in hacking heaven!!!! Definitely no need to be on the main road. I have a few friends who keep their horses up there who may be happy to buddy up with you. Failing that I kept my horse there for years, would be happy to come over and escort you on a few to get you started. PM me if you fancy it xx

Skewby I can't find any buttons to PM you...I would love to meet people who could show me around so feel free to ask your friends for me please or if you have transport would be nice to meet up as well!
I think I was in hacking heaven where I was before by Cirencester park...
But would like someone to prove me it is hacking heaven in Minch as well!!!

:-D

There are designated quiet lanes through Amberley, Bagpath and Butterow and then you can come back across Rodborough Common. Aunts pony I used ti ride was a wussbag in traffic so I had to stick to the real quiet places. Its a lovely area for hacking.
