Perhaps the one thing my nerves weren't anticipating, but we are both 100% fine!

The main thing I can say is, WOW I love this horse SO much already!!
laugh.gif

She tried her little heart out for me today; Such a star in the rather rushed warm up; SO honest; tried 110%!! (even when I royally mucked it up putting her into a fence TOTALLY wrong - I'm SOOO used to my old boy's tiny stride
crazy.gif
)

I was quite nervous but a few fences into the class, we were really finding our groove
grin.gif
I felt this total surge of confidence and faith in her
smile.gif
(haven't showjumped for aaaaaages and was rather nervous on someone other than Will) but about 2/3rds of the way round she slipped a stride off take off, BUT, rather than stop then, she STILL went for the take off
ooo.gif
and spectacularly slipped again. We crashed though the fence and both ended up on the floor.

It is amazing how fast thoughts can wizz through your brain at a time like that
crazy.gif
The tragedies that have occurred at Badders this weekend flashed at a million miles an hour through my head - I know it's not the same thing, but I was totally struck with fear for her
crazy.gif
When I looked round at her I was so ******* terrified that she was going to get up on only three legs or something horrific!
crazy.gif

crazy.gif
BUT she picked herself up just fine and didn't even begger off, just calmly let me catch her.
smile.gif
WOW I was shakey checking her legs etc, but she was fine. I honestly could have cried with relief.

I took her out and removed tack and she was still totally chilled just watching what was going on in the ring. One of her back shoes had slipped a tiny bit, but you wouldn't have guessed that anything had happened - she was just sweet and calm. After a break and checking her over about a million times we headed for home and she did the whole ride with her ears up and spring in her step, so I am sure she's ok *phew*
crazy.gif

I can tell you, that horse got some hugs and kisses (and polos!!) today.
grin.gif
All the way home I was thinking of how much she still tried to get us over the jump and how she didn't make a fuss over what happened.

I am sure, totally sure, that I have found one of those "horses of a lifetime" here. I actually feel fit to burst with emotion when I think of how she tries for me after only a month together. She really is a dream come true!!
grin.gif

And now you've read all my over emotional ramblings
smirk.gif
Here is a vid of it - Please don't give me critique, I can see it for myself
crazy.gif
frown.gif
But it's the first time I've ridden a course in over 18 months and we're a new partnership
smile.gif
:

I'm sorry, now i've written all of this I realise you may want to chase me and my post to comp riders
blush.gif
but I feel far too rubbish about my riding to post in there
blush.gif
And this was only a riding club, intermediate 2'9"

Did I mention the jumps hadnt even been put up yet LOL
grin.gif

and were back on and ok and going fine

Glad your both ok

I'm so glad you are both ok.

Don't worry about it, there's no harm done, just try to move on. You will go over and over it probably for a day or 2 but its over now and she is fine and will forget about it sooner than you will!
And you got a nice ride home to end on a good note.

*Huge Hugs*

Think the emotions of today are getting to me - I was in tears reading that! Your words/and obvious actions really show what a loving, kind owner you are. She's lucky to have you as much as you are to have her.

Poor Puppy and Bel, but she sounds like she is getting better and better. She is such a little Star
grin.gif

I see you did manage to find a stand-in cameraman
grin.gif

Such a shame about the fall but really glad you're both OK. She really does sound like an absolute star, I'm sure you'll both do much better at the next one
grin.gif

And yay - we get to see evidence of this outing
tongue.gif
grin.gif

glad you both ok

I know how it is to fall with the horse!! The only times i have 'fallen off' Hemri was when he has slipped and we both went crashing to the ground...once was over a 3'6 jump where the gorund was too slippy and the other was tuning a corner when he was very unbalanced at the begining!!!

Oh no!! Glad you are both ok and hope you are not too sore tomorrow
frown.gif

It was just one of those things, but you are ok and back up and running hopefully on to the next competition. A riding club 2'9 course on a relatively new horse when you haven't jumped in ages isn't something to be sniffed at. Its an achievement
smile.gif

She is looking fab by the way
grin.gif

She is a star - I love her so much.
grin.gif
And Star the star as well of course
smile.gif

Ooooh, well done for today
laugh.gif
did it go well?

Awww, I'm not going to dwell on it. In fact, do you know what, if anything I feel more confident on her because of how she tried her heart out for me
smile.gif

blush.gif
Oh thank you Weebrown - bless you.

I do feel so lucky to to have found this girl. I spent 15 months searching - and so much heartache in the process. During the whole search, my mother kept saying to me - "There's one out there with your name on it somewhere" - and when we got back to the yard tonight we were having tea, and I sat and watched her eat her hay - and I turned to my mother and said "you were right
smile.gif
.......... There was one with my name on, and HERE she is"
smile.gif
grin.gif

Yes...
crazy.gif
You've seen mother's attempt with a camera now
smirk.gif
I told you so
smirk.gif
Best you come next time I think

LOL! Well I knew you'd moan if I didn't post the evidence
tongue.gif
but yes, I still have to put up pics of last weekends show
blush.gif
*tut tut me* v lapse I know!

Went brilliantly. he was a real cocky little toad in the small classes but fab in the big ones. Walked tomorrow's HT course earlier and now off to bed for some sleep!!

Could have been much worse hey?!
crazy.gif

And I guess we've got lots to build on with a first outing like this
smirk.gif

you and her are SO well suited.
wishing you the best.
and as always 'live and learn'
everything else looked FAB

Why on earth do you think that???????

I think we need more pictures to be a judge of that comment
grin.gif

From the jumps you did do on your vid, you both look fine to me. I'm sure the fall is purely down to the fact that you haven't had her long. You still need more geting to know time and it will all come soon enough. Its definitely onwards and upwards

Quite honestly - because she is AMAZING! And I can't believe that I am lucky enough to own a horse like her

Steady now
crazy.gif
It takes a lot of guts and a couple of glasses of wine for me to be brave enough to post pics
grin.gif
If you want more you shall have to provide the wine

It's so nice to hear that as it's so odd to showjump a horse other than Will after our partnership lasted so long. After he died I didn't ride for about a year and have since lost all confidence in my riding
crazy.gif

As you say, onwards and upwards
smile.gif

Ok well I'm happy to supply vino..........
grin.gif
grin.gif

I see no reason why the two of you shouldn't make a perfect partnership
grin.gif
Its always hard finding a horse to fill the shoes of a previous horse. I lost a good loan horse to colic and I gave up for about 2 1/2 years. I eventually got another loan before finally buying my own, but it took time before the shoes were well and truely filled and all in all it was about 6 years before I did a jumping class again (We got eliminated halfway round...it was 2'0
blush.gif
grin.gif
) there is no looking back now though
