Hi, I have just bought a 2 yo mini cob, she is registered with the TGCA, i'm thinking she will make around 12 2", she is very chunky and hairy as you would expect. My question is if I can get my weight back down to 9 and 1/2 stone would this be ok to back her and ride her on. She is for the grand children to ride but I would have to exercise her during the week. Obviously I wont be backing her until she is 4.
Thanks in advance.

Cobs take a longer time to mature, so at 3/4 i would probably feel a little uncomfortable with that.

I think you will be ok so long as you are sensible about it. If you send the pony away the rider isnt going to be much lighter than that anyway I wouldnt have thought.

I think it would be fine but youd probably struggle more with getting a saddle to fit you and the horse. Just from experience most cobs are very short backed now-a days and I can imagine a 12.2 will hardly have any space!
