Mini Hippo finally arrived on Saturday! 12 days late, 40 hours of labour and emergency forceps. She is worth the wait but I am wrecked and I think my plans to be riding again by July are out the window :(. Thank goodness for my sharer!

Congratulations, I hope your little girl is well and that you are recovering well.

I had forceps too (presumably you had an episiotomy?) I do feel your pain, although I only had a 3 hour labour that was bad enough, I can't imagine what it is like to go through days of it.

Give yourself loads of time to heal, just rest and enjoy your daughter, the horse will be there when you are ready. I hope you aren't getting our 30C weather at the moment.

Photo?

Congratulations :)

I had an episiotomy(?), which I'm assuming you did, I was riding after 4 weeks without trouble. I seemed to be in awful pain for a couple of weeks but then I turned a corner and all was well :). Hope you have a similar recovery!

Take care and look after yourself.

Congratulations:) It sounds as though you had a really rough time. Does Mini Hippo have a name yet and any piccies would be most welcome:)

many congrats1 There seem to be loads of us popping at the moment on here and having a rough time and saying never again - ,myself included:o 2 weeks does make a big difference, i felt utterly broken too but Im getting better now. My wee one is 2 weeks and 3 days. Good luck, love the name:D

Congratulations! We all say 'never again' but time amazingly makes you forget just how bloody painful it all was :D I have three!
And I love her name!! Beautiful :)

Now the all important question: would she prefer a Mini or a Shetland? :D
Apologies for the MASSIVE photo!

OMG your baby is adorable! Many congratulations :D

Don't write off riding just yet - I had 96 hours of labour (although no forceps or episiotomy) and recovered quickly :)

Thanks all! I do feel totally broken but mini Hipp is so lovely I don't really mind. Think she will be an only child though :)

Mine was/is...she graduates high school in a few weeks. Time flies so fast, before you know it they are mobile, then at pre-school, then elementary whizzes past and those 4 years of High School - well, I have no idea at all where they went

Enjoy every moment with her.

What an absolutely beautiful photograph, pardon me for being a bit dim but how do you pronounce her name? (Oh you are going to have so many people saying that over the years!)

:) I looked it up, EE-fa, is that right? My daughter is the anglicized version - Eva!

Yup, that's exactly how you say it. But it's not related to Eva - it's from the Irish for 'beauty'. I lived in Ireland for 5 years and met my Canuck husband there. We really miss it so we always knew we wanted an Irish name for her, although we may have doomed her to a life of frustration over spellings and pronunciation!
