Hi, we have recently taken on a mini Shetland. She's 17 and was used as a broodmare for 14 years. Not done much since. We're doing some ground work with her as she does have a few quirks. The one I'm not sure how to solve is her rearing up at her stable door. She can't see out so I'm hoping it may be solved with getting a smaller door. However, last time she had a smaller door she would try to climb out if it. Any suggestions would be great. Have been thinking about maybe putting a hole in the door for her head so she can look out maybe? With the security of having a full size door?

As another poster suggested you can buy a webbing door grill, just need to get the height right so she cannot go under or over it. I know my 11.3 welsh mare who spend some time in stables she couldn’t see out of properly is so much happier now she can see out.

What about a simple stall chain. Shires sell them. Unless she's likely to leap!
Otherwise a wooden ramp in front of door?!

I wouldn't recommend the webbing stall guards, my shetland got his foot through on of the side gaps, fortunately I was there. I had a small door made for him and it's brill. If jumping out was an issue i'd probably try the small door and if it doesn't work just add a weave or full grill onto it.
