A little coloured mini shetland has just been given to me and I would like to do some showing with her. She is reg with BSpPS. What dress etc for me and pony do people find works best? Any particular classes or shows reccommended? Have only done a little showing before as mainly do dressage but would like to have a go!!!
Any suggestions gratefully received!

they have specific shows for minuture setlands or any shetland, we only do local level with ours but we do mountain and moorland with him as well.

Any good websites? Looked at miniature horse website but they all look very fine like little rachorses and not like my little fattie!

If your Shetland is registered, you will be able to show him at county level shows as well as local level, agricultral shows will have special classes ran by the Shetland Stud Book Society, you have have standard classes (34 inches and over) and the miniture classes if under 34 inches. Usually Mare, gelding 4 years and under, mare and foal, stallion class, yearing and 2-3 yr old classes. You will also be able to M&M small breeds at local shows.

You may also be able to register your shetland with the British Miniture Horse Society so you can also show at their shows. Plus the Coloured classes.

Tweed jacket, brown/mole skin trousers, shirt and tie, with a showing hat or flat cap etc for the breed classes.

Etd...totally got ahead of myself there, if your mini is spotted you will not be able to go in any M&M classes or Shetland Classes.

He will look like a mini fattie compared to the miniature horses! They are tiny horses, rather than a shetland! What are you planning to show him as? Guessing, an in hand shetland, in which case try Ponies (UK), Equifest and the NPS websites.

If he is registered with the BSPS for 2009, was it planned to do ridden classes with him.

I do hope we can see some piccys!

Yes I'll take some photos over the weekend. She is rising 4 and stands at about 29" last time I measured her. She holds spotted pony passport and someone told me she is a "pintaloosa" (????) as she has spotty relatives. Not reg with shetland people as far as i'm aware but will try a find out. Have got full breeding history for her (not bad considering she was off for dog food!!)

Just realsied you said the shetland was spotted. Ignore the info on the coloured website as this will not be relevant to you. Sorry, should have read the post in more detail!

Hi i have responded to your pm. Firstly i could do with a pic as she sounds more like a mini horse rather than a mini shetland. But we need to know as they are shown differently!

She will only be eligable to be registered with the British miniature horse society if her parents are British registered but there are many other mini societies you can register with.
