A friend wants to try some XC schooling on their (mainly) happy hacking pony and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions/advice for the best courses available to hire within about a 30 minute drive of Basingstoke. They don't normally jump above 2ft and it's the ponies first time so I am looking for somewhere with a good range of fences between 1 and 2ft as we don't want to turn up and find they'd be overfaced by everything but I'm afraid I don't really know the area. I have found a website for the Three Maids XC schooling course but it doesn't say how many fences it has under 2ft or if they're worth visiting for if you're not likely to progress onto the full courses.

All suggestions/experiences/advice welcome. Thanks in advance! :)

Have been to three maids and there are lots of little jumps. I took a friends daughter on my 12.2 and there were loads. I don't jump anything too big and she actually ended up jumping the big ones on the pony. I really enjoyed it. The girl I took went again a couple of weeks ago and said there are even more small jumps. There are two water jumps which have options. Mostly it is quite compact so foot followers don't have too much walking to do.
Would thoroughly recommend it.

I really like 3 maids, but I'd have said a lot of the stuff is more like 2-2'3.

Other little ones around the place would be Wheatlands (livery yard in eversley) and Cullinghood (Riding school, about 10 mins from M4 J12) both of which hire their courses.

Three Maids has tons of tiny fences, about 2'-2'3, as does Fair Oak in Rogate, which is about 45 minutes from Basingstoke.

Cullinghood dont actually have that much below 2'. Their best jumps are 2'6-2'9 although they are very inviting.

Been to three maids recently and their are some very small fences but most 2'3 mark for smallest height.
How about dene farm near stockbridge? Must be around 30 mins away that has a small course and a 2'3 course. (and up to 3'3 ) Which is nice but a course rather than a schooling field and small course like three maids.

If you travel further boomerang is amazing with all heights but not sure how many very small ones but caters for everyone!
