Miniature for a companion?

I have a 31 inch mini Shetland! he's totally scared of life, which is good because he doesn't ever escape, he wont go near the electric fencing! he costs next to nothing to keep! he loves my mare but is fine being left on his own for a while!

Adore our mini, he's such a gorgeous boy and makes me laugh every day. However, he is no longer low maintenance. He has to be in a muzzle 24/7 for most of the year, is a serial escape artist, has sweet itch and loves ripping rugs. So if you get one, be prepared that they're not always as easy as they seem.

All 3 of mine were entire - 2 weaning colts and 1 licenced stallion - as I only have geldings the whole gelding thing didn't put me off them at all. All 3 were resold as entires too with no bother later.

I have two mini's. They live out with my big girls, never had any worries about lami. I had one and then, when my friend moved yards and took her mini with her I got my youngster to keep my first mini company. Bit silly really, as the first mini is just as happy with the big girls and I worry that my youngster, who is now nearly five and unbroken, has no job. Really I need to get her backed and find a nice home for her where she has a job.
