Just wondered who has one.
We have one who we absolutely adore.
She doesn't live with our 3 bigger horses, she lives at home with us on a very small farm. She adores people and company. I often feel guilty when it's a rainy day.
What do you like to do with yours?? Xx

OP, does your wee one have equine company on your farm?

I have a miniature horse x and two miniature shetlands. The mini horse was bought as a companion for a bigger horse I had at the time. I sold the big horse and then the companion, needed a friend, so we bought him his own companion. A few years down the line, we came across a tiny tot who had lived his life on a petting farm and didn’t even know he was a horse (he was very people dependant and was terrified of all the other horses to begin with). He’s thick as thieves with the other mini Shetland, so much so we refer to them as the twins. So, the companion got his own companion and then the companions, got another companion.

Theyre pampered pets, they eat, sleep and play together and generally annoy my ridden mare. ?

Snap! Got a mini to be a companion for ridden horse. Ridden horse was sold, so got a companion for the companion, and about to get another ?
Although thats more because the little old minis age is catching up with her and I don't want the other one to be on his own if it comes to saying goodbye, so am sourcing him a companion of his own!
They live a quiet life, just eating, sleeping and being spoiled

We don't have a companion for her.
She did live with our other horses but so prefers people so we brought her home.
Our circumstances have changed hugely with the yard of my own I had and the other 3 are now on livery where she couldn't go.
There isn't enough room at our home for another.

Mine lives out with the herd, which is a family of 5, of varying sizes up to 16.2hh.

He loves people too but would be bored alone I think. I personally wouldn’t keep any equine alone. He’s definitely the spoilt youngest child, the others let him get away with anything, including sharing their bucket feeds. I think they love him as much as me!

My mini shet lives with my 12hh elderly pony (they’re both elderly to be honest!) in a field with our small flock of sheep. The ponies are the best of friends

Mine is best friend to my 14hh pony. They are inseparable in the field, usually forming their own little 'herd' although there are another 6 horses in with them. They get huffy if put in separate fields, but are quite happy to be parted for work.
He is ridden on and off lead, led from another horse, driven, and carries the bags when we're litter picking.
It is a constant challenge to find and train little riders so there is someone to give him the gallops which he loves!

I have a mini Shetland who was bought as a companion for my standard Shetland (probably mixed with Highland somewhere along the line) and they share a large hill field with a Highland cow and Herdwicks and Blackie sheep. When I sold my Highland and just had the standard Shetland I would take him for walks with the dogs. He was much happier once I got him another equine friend though.

I am loving all these posts about mini companions having mini companions. ?. I would have a field full of minis given the chance (perhaps this is the reason hubby was keen to continue to let the farmer rent most of our land for crops ?). I wonder how many minis I could fit on 32 acres ?.
