Silly question but how do people transport miniature horses? Can you get miniature horse boxes?!!
Don't they rattle around a bit in a normal trailer? The tie rings would be several feet above the level needed too.
They have legs, they can balance? I didn't think they need to be propped up or ratcheted in lol. When I travelled my mini shet in a trailer I just put the breast bar up on the highest so he wouldnt bump his head on it and added a bit of bailing twine to the lower breast bar staple to tie him to.
Legs? No, I'm talking about the ones on castors obviously!!
If I could, I would have the van conversion. My 4 are away on loan now - miss them very much. They are great characters.
I have seen regular trailers converted to fit 2 lots of 3 minis abreast.
Me, I take partitions out, or section off part of the trailer, open the jockey door (but that isn't going to work if you have one at the front above the hitch obviously) and let them jump in - and out. I never used the ramp, or partitions when I was moving minis.
Once I was working at a racing yard with this big swanky 6 horse box with 'VF Racehorses' emblazoned on the side, we took the boss's daughter to a little local show one Sunday, opened the box and bought this teeny tiny white pony out, everyone fell about laughing![]()
Last night I followed a van with 'Pony Pamper Parties' written on the back - a panel van this is, maybe a Vito, that sort of size - no windows. It had a small 'horses in transit' sign on the back. The way they hared round a roundabout, I hope the poor things weren't on board at the time! I googled it when I got home and one part of their website says...
"The children will be entertained simply by the incredible opportunity of having two delightful ponies at their birthday party, but also by grooming them and dressing them up in themed costumes to your choice, as well as taking part in well-thought activities to keep them occupied."
...so it sounds like the travelling is the least of these poor things worries!
Mine is travelled like I travel anything else. ...
The only difference is that i have a lower tie ring for her.
SC, you have seen my box, if you put in an extra partition, you could safely travel 3 minis in there, facing side on or front, or rear![]()
I have an extra bracket on the side of my trailer and a full width breech bar and they load in the trailer as the bigger horses do - I often take the partition out but still tie them up.
