Hi,
i know a few guys on here have miniatures but its all new to me. I want to know about show prep/turnout is there a good book/website/forum or just anyone wishing to share there knowledge? :D

I have 3 :p All little monkeys but never sell any of them! x

When i show my miniature i show in a leather bridle but bitless and i have just brought a mini shetland stallion about a month ago so when i show him i think because of him being a stallion he has to wear a bridle with bit.

Heres a link from the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society. I hope it is some help.

Well it would depend on whether you had a miniature horse or a miniature shetland. both are completley different in regards show turnout. There is so much to learn with regards showing and turnout but im willing to give as much info as you like!! Although i only show miniature horses.

If you want to PM me with any specifics i can try and guide you in the right direction. To be honest there really isnt much info out there. When i started it was speaking to as many people as i could ( but tbh not many people are willing to share show secrets, pathetic really! ) and visiting shows etc..
If you want to pm me with details fo your miniature etc.. and whether they are registered with specific societies ill give you as much help as i can! :)

I took my little fella out last weekend to his first ever show. He's a 13 month standard shetland coloured colt. I had trimmed his jawline and ears, but nothing anywhere else. He had a bath in the morning and when we got to the show i used a hand towel to remove any dust from travelling then some showshine and hoofshine. He wore a shires leather filly slip with leather lead, this is only because i couldn't find a bridle to fit him he needs a bit really. We got a second and a third which i was delighted with and his behaviour after a a few niggles was excellent (much better than he is at home) It was so much easier than plaiting up i must say. In fact i allowed myself far too much time for bathing and he was stood on the yard for too long really. But it is a learning curve for me too really. Good luck with your show.
