Just wondered if anyone has one of these. Am thinking about getting one, there is a litter near me. Was wondering if they are hard to train/good with cats/horses/can be left on their own?
Many thanks.

I have one, i have posted on here before and in the pics a few posts down. I would never be without a MJR, they are intelligent, loyal and devoted and the best watchdogs never mind mousers. Mine sleeps with the cat and can go anywhere off lead and just as obedient as my BC (not as sharp to respond tho!)
Mine hacks out with me and will walk behind the horse if meets another dog, very friendly with all animals (except mice) and a pleasure to have. Mine is also left with free run of the house when im out and you'll always find everything intact the way it should be with her under the duvet!
If your dedicated and active they make brill pets as very lively too

My grandparents have one, and previously had one that I was involved in training. The previous one was a brilliant dog - quiet in the house for the most part, active and obedient on walks and very easy to train. We did agility competitions at a local level which he proved very good at!

He was friendly with strangers, other dogs and children.

Sadly my grandparents were not very consistent with him when I wasn't there and he couldn't be left alone in the house for any period of time as he would howl and bark.

When they lost their old dog they bought the new MJR very quickly, while still feeling guilty and mourning for the old dog, and so he has turned out to be a spoilt brat. He is snappy, opinionated and selectively deaf. Despite this however he is like the previous one in that he is brilliant with strangers and kids. Neither of them minded cats in the slightest.

To summarise, they can be brilliant dogs if they are not treated like little lap dogs. They are essentially working dogs and will do best if they have a job to do - be it agility or preferably mousing/ratting.

I have two - and 8 cats - they do like to chase the cats - sometimes the cats run and sometimes the cats just look at them and stare. I love them - they are just the perfect size for a house with cats - some of my cats are bigger than them!

My mini jack russell will curl up on my knee with my guinea pigs, gets picked on by my friends cat, has his kennel club silver award, has done agaility oh and is fine to be left in the house. Oh and of course, is very cute!!

Like this you mean....

We have a 18 month old mini JRT. She is fab with strangers and kids, OK with cats (plays with ours, ignores other peoples), can be left on her own in the hours/car (in fact has never chewed anything).

Not as easy to train as perhaps a lab type, but wouldn't be without ours thats for sure.

I have met others who can be yappy/nippy etc, so try to meet the mum and dad of this litter and see what they are like.
