Hello,

I was wondering whether anyone knew of the average/minimum width of a skinny fence (Length ways) at British eventing levels 80/90/100? Skinnies are particularly our weak point and want to practise them jumping the worst case scenario...

Thanks :)

If you're doing it as a training exercise I'd suggest using blocks on end and getting down to one block - then you can guarantee that you're not going to meet anything narrower. Where you're aiming to get to is that if you have random blocks scattered round your school, hacking etc your horse will pop them without questioning what you are asking.

Okay thank you, will try that. Was also wondering on how wide I should cut my skinny poles I have to practise...

As you have to jump between flags that means the jump cant be narrower than the width of a big horse plus stirrups plus a bit. The jump can often have a narrower ground line though.

When I practice at home we use poles that have three bands of colour so think are probably 3ft possibly 4, havent found anything narrower out competing.
