There was a sharp intake of breath in our sitting room on Sunday while watching Countryfile, when Adam talked about "baby lambs":eek: (it's actually a secret irritation of mine on HHO when people refer to their "babies" or "baby horses" :D:o)

Now watching the racing (I do occasionally work :o) and Richard Dunwoody of all people was talking about Nacarat and said "He gets whiter every year but he still looks fit and well ..." Er, it's not a sign of old age and decrepitude you know ...

But Richard Pitman just made me laugh talking about jump jockeys riding with just their toes in the irons, American style: "What happens if they cough??" :D

Steve Hadley wins the prize for all time irritating commentary - who gets your vote? :)

All I can say is that I soooo much prefer BBC coverage (when they're not wabbering about fashion) as they show the horses parading and going to the post instead of adverts!!

Come on Hunt Ball!!!

I dont have any TV ones, but I was at a show a while ago and the commentator was describing the youngstock as 'out of' such and such a stallion, instead of 'by' such and such a stallion, and that was slightly irritating :D

Yeah I know what you mean with baby lambs and baby horses. (On here, 'Ponios' gets my vote:))

Thought Hunt Ball was going to get there 2 out ...

I don't like the ads on C4 but John Francome makes up for it :) His commentary I like :D

I was always under the impression horses did grey out as they got older?!? All of our little Welshies did anyway...

Did think that Hunt Ball was in with a shot until the last couple of fences, would have been a nice story if he'd won wouldn't it!

Also, what's with the tail triangle going on on that winner there?

Yes they do, but at different rates, so just because a horse is "white" doesn't mean it's past it ;) which is what it sounded like RD was saying :)

Ah ok, I interpreted it as probably intended by RD lol, then your comment threw me a bit. You know when you have a 'oh my god have I been getting that wrong for this many years?!' moment!!

There isn't a GN thread yet is there, who's going to be brave and post their tips?? I'd like sunnyhillboy to take it but I haven't really had more than a passing glance at the runners yet.

Yes they do, but I agree with what RR said :D My just gone 2 yr old is greying at an alarming rate already! I dont think he will be very old at all by the time hes white grey.

Just to say I have the utmost respect for RD and I'm sure he didn't mean it the way it sounded ;)

No point in me tipping anything for the GN, because it's like me putting a curse on them if I do (with the exception of Red Marauder who I told everyone about and nobody listened :p)

Hope Channel Four can do justice to the meeting in future.
Have to disagree about show jumpers commentary though!
SH is my favourite.
Maybe the BBC commentators had first day nerves!
Thought the tent for wash down was really good, and some lovely stories came out of Day One.
Been in tears twice today, what is it with the Champions music, the tributes by Peter O Sullivan, and Big Bucks winning,

pmsl no no no SH is rubbish so there :p he makes people fall off and knock fences down. I had a lovely chestnut mare called Hadley which came from him:)

I have been crying along to the Champions music for years :o
