Miracle mane grower?

The only thing I've heard is that coconut oil is good because it keeps the hair shaft strong and prevents breakage, though it doesn't speed up actual root growth. I'd be really interested in something that works better! Some idiot on the yard did me a 'favour' by yanking out a tangle in my mare's mane which I was leaving alone until the snow went away and now she has a huge hole in her mane.

Iv used mega tek. Didn't really work on the mane as it's been rubbed out for years & the follicles are probably damaged, however I used it to help hair growth on a scar after a head injury (after wound was healed) there's no scar! Can't say for sure if the mega tek helped but it certainly didn't hinder it. Everyone who walked past my stable commented on the lovely smell when I was using it too! ;)

hi there - I use Pig Oil on my lad's mane and tail, and his mane is past his shoulders. Pic on my thread about colic (page 2). I swear by the stuff.

Wish there was a miracle product. I want mine traddie this year, but his mane is pants! Think I might cave and clip again. Rubbish mane:

Shy's mane is now way past his shoulders, the longest it has been (so far). I apply pig oil to the crest and hair every month or so. Trust me, it works - no idea how though.

Id assume that rather than applying lotions and potions on to the hair, the trick to get it to grow would be feed the right nutrients ! proteins and biotin etc

Ah thank you. He is seven, so I've had him for 5 years now. His mane has just taken on a life of it's own since I started using pig oil, mainly to clear mud fever (with sulphur added down there). I just wiped my hands on his mane and tail, and they have sprouted ! No massage, just poured on, and brushed to the ends gently. Voila !

His diet is Topspec Light with a smidgen of veg oil, plus half a cup of their calm/condition cubes in the morning, and then soaked hay. Topspec could well be the key ?

I can honestly say I was on my knees praying in his stable last night. My biggest fear has always been "what if he outlives me ? ", which I must sort out , but then suddenly last night it was "I might outlive him".

I think it's the massaging in of these products that helps more than the product itself. I use Supreme mane and tail rebuilder or megatek

I'm so very sorry to hear that (((((( HUGE HUGS))))))))))). With a native cob, I thought it would never happen to him, but how wrong was I. The thing is, i have learnt so much from people posting about colic on here, that I knew what was wrong - I have never seen it before. And now I know it can happen to any horse (meaning Shy is a native, tough as old boots, never ill type).

I guess that is the power of forums.

He is similar to my last horse Indi, who I had to sell when we emigrated. Never got over selling him tbh. Indi probably would have "done" hogged, I could never get his mane sorted.

Gorgeous pic - just chilling..

Do you know what - I am looking at your lad and he's saying directly to me " go on then, whatd'ya think, I feel a bit special today ( with a wink) ?".

Beautiful. Cobs certainly rule x
