I'd like to say I'm surprised but sadly, I'm not. What did surprise me is 'Dogs weighing under 10 kg were more than twice as likely to die from an undesirable behaviour as dogs weighing over 40 kg' but I'm guessing that they would be the ones more likely to be killed in a RTA by virtue of size making them less likely to be seen in time on a road or survive a collision and small/terrier so more likely to escape?

Also interesting is that the guarding breeds - Rotts, Dobes, GSD, Mastiffs and so, all quite numerous - aren't on the highest risk list. 'Compared with the Labrador Retriever, the breeds with the highest risk of death from an undesirable behaviour were the Cocker Spaniel (8 times the risk), West Highland White Terrier (5.7 times the risk), Staffordshire Bull Terrier (4.5 times the risk), and Jack Russell Terrier (2.7 times the risk).'

And such a low percentage of owners in these cases had sought professional help...

It simply shows that in UK there are far too many dogs and far too few people who know how to deal with them - which, tbh, isn’t news.
