Miscanthus/elephant grass bedding - anyone used it?

Hi

I'm thinking of changing from straw to deep littered elephant grass. I've never used it before so would appreciate anyone's opinions/experiences.

Is it absorbant? Does it stay in place well as a deep littered bed? Would anyone recommend it?

Have been using it for about a year now and am very pleased with it. I have previously used Easibed, which I liked but not at its current price!, Bedmax shavings, did not like as not absorbant, and straw, made the muckheap too big.

We have rubber mats but still put down a full bed. At the moment I am skipping the droppings out daily and taking the wet out about every two weeks and putting a new bale in.

One of my horses is very wet and is doing very well on it. I did use about two bales a week with him when he was on box rest
