Well I started out at 5 am and got home at 11 pm yesterday, flew from Stanstead to Edinburgh and then about 80 miles each way drive - but it was worth it. Tania came with me and we had a lovely day, the scenery was spectacular - the sat nav took us via tiny one track sheep roads the last 11 miles.

Miss Farra is all we want - steady, calm and very kind. Lovely to ride, only fault was a little nappy at leaving her mates - in that she tried to turn round a few times but that was all, nothing nasty in her at all and very willing and light to ride. We both had big grins when we rode her, which says it all.

Front feet need a bit of work - but vet said good farrier and her finishing growing will sort it. She does have an inside outtie belly button but again nothing wrong - just a lump. Few rubs due to flies but they are by a river and where we are is far better to a horse that is sensitive to flies and midges - Chancer would rip himself apart if kept there. Shame as it was one of the most beautiful places you could visit. She passed the 5* vetting though.

She reminded Tania so much of Cairo as he was as a baby - still all legs and so much filling out. She will be a big girl - she is already 17 hands and is only just 4. Vet reckons about 17.2 when done.

Have told her about her new little brother and I know Chancer will be so much happier for another big clydie to be with.

She is now on the lorry and should be home for Tuesday.

Will post loads of pics and bore you about her in the future. Can't wait to get her and my husband happy again - he has missed Cairo and not having a horse to love terribly.

She sounds lovely, and I'm looking forward to seeing her pics.
I'm glad you've found a young clydie mare - lots of babies in the future...
What colour is she?

Aww, that is brill news.
It brought a tear to my eye when you said about making hubby happy again (Imust be hormonal).
Do I take it he hasn't seen it in the flesh yet then?
If not, he's going to have so much to look forward to this weekend.
I am glad your forward planning paid off.

Very similar to Cairo but more of a chesnut sabino/roan than the bay sabino that Cairo was. We would love to at some point have one foal from her, purely as she is fairly well bred and clydes are rare so would like to "replace her" in the numbers.

Very lanky at the moment - so much growing to do - compared to Chancer - there is about 6 weeks difference she is so much more baby like in both the look and how she rides. I now really appreciate how balanced he is for his age.

No he has not - he is so busy at week time off was impossible and we did not want to loose her. That said, he did say he would not make any real contribution apart from saying - lovely, we will have her now in viewing her. He knows that I know what he wants and I really feel I have found the right horse for him.

She is so kind that if he were lighter and she stronger, I would have the western saddle on and be hacking out with him next week. As it is, he is on a diet and she needs to strength up to carry 17 stone so it will be at least a year before we do this - not a problem, I and Tania will school her and he will do the groundwork with her and he can long rein whilst I ride Stinky on the bridleways.

Can't wait to hack out again with OH - due to Cairo's old age and Chancer's young age we have not ridden together for 3 years.

Theresa i am so pleased for you and Andy.perhaps we will see her next year at shows!?

Was thinking of you yesterday and wondering how you were getting on. That really is fantastic news - can't wait to see some more piccies of the new Essex Gal.

Mmmmmm I have mentioned heavy horse ridden classes and she could go in coloureds, but Andy has a thing about showing - hates it as it can be so biased and political.

I hope to take her to some of HPF shows next year - good for her education and may have a go at basic dressage and later jumping - just like Cairo did.

Congrats on the new horse, she sounds lovely and def worth the trip!

Just wanted to say my new mare also has an outie belly button. I was so concerned about it at the vetting I asked the vet if she thought it was a sarcoid

.... I felt such an idiot but she is a grey and better safe than sorry!
