Missing horse. Sad update.

I wish Horsewatch would impress on owners of so-called "stolen" horses how many are found having suffered from being stuck in fences, hedges, ditches. One I knew of kept saying they and the police had done a very thorough search - it wasn't thorough enough, they found the poor horse stuck deep in a hedge two days later, could probably have been saved if they had found it earlier.
Please please please if you know someone whose horse is missing, tell them not to assume it is stolen (most aren't valuable enough to be worth stealing) but look EVERWHERE and get neighbours to search as well. So sorry for the owners of this one.

Very sad. Had a heart stopping moment this morning when I realised my boy wasn't in his field but fortunately he'd only got as far as the yard
I can't imagine how his poor owners are feeling but very sorry anyway

I went out on foot last night to look for him, but didn't (obviously) find him :( it was in my village. I feel very sad. That poor, poor horse must've been so scared. I feel so dreadfully sorry for all involved :( Just not fair, it really isn't.

Poor horse and owners :( what was the story?

According to the original thread, the poor horse spooked and jumped out over a gate. :( He was followed by someone in a car but they lost sight of him and search parties have been out ever since.

Poor horse. And poor, poor owners who seemed to have done everything possible to find him. It's just heartbreaking.

Horsewatch was well aware that Ronnie was not stolen but had got spooked, jumped a 5 bar gate and escaped. The owners and a huge group of people had already searched the local area quite a lot in the past couple of days.
The horsewatch network was used in case someone else had found the horse and took him home with them.

Yes, some owners need to do a more thorough search of their own fields but everyone reacts differently to the situation they are presented with.

A horse is extremely valuable to its owner.
You can't say that most horses aren't valuable enough to be worth stealing.

I am Horsewatch co ordinater in South Wales , the search criteria is well established and the message is passed on time and time again , Ronnie was NEVER reported as stolen .

Your statement re valuable horses being stolen only is frankly , ill informed and inaccurate . All sorts are stolen from mini Shetlands, kids ponies to racehorses and international competition horses . ALL horses are valuable to their owners regardless .

Oh no :( what an awful outcome. I know all too well the sickening feeling of losing a horse, I was so lucky with my Ned, I was preparing myself to post a thread like this. Poor horse and poor owners. R.I.p :( x

Oh no, what terrible news :frown3: I've been thinking about him ever since I saw the first thread and have been keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome, how incredibly heartbreaking. He was a beautiful horse and obviously much loved, my thoughts go out to his owners, I can't begin to imagine what they are going through. x

RIP Ronnie, poor horse, cant begin to imagine what his owners must have been going through all week not knowing. Dreadfully Sad outcome but better to know and at least the wondering and worrying can stop, and the grieving can begin.
Thoughts and best wishes to all of his family xx
And a well done to all who helped with the search.
