Just wondering how common this actually is.....

Nellie cocker had an extra teat and Ruby is missing one.....is it just spangles that are so slap dash with their fastenings or do all breeds seem to have a random number of nips!??

I have had a few bitches with various permutations on the regular number of teats. My young GSD actually has a double teat, 2 slightly smaller ones in the same spot. I did mention it to the vet as I may breed from her and he said shouldn't be a problem, but if it didn't produce milk there are plenty more to go at.:p

Dax doesn't seem to have any - seriously, there is just nothing there. There hasn't been a bitch in the family since I was knee high so I have no idea what they are supposed to look like... :o

They are probably just hidden in the fur! As she was spayed quite young they won't have developed much, if you feel along her tummy you will probably find something, may well just feel like little pimples. Either that or she is a very strange girl.:p

In the interests of science I have just gone and had a good squeeze, I can confirm that there is absolutely nothing in the way of lumps, bumps, pimples or protusions of any kind anywhere on her underside.

I did wonder if it was because she was spayed at an early age, her ladybits are also much smaller and neater than most bitches. :o

Smaller, neater ladybits are normal in spayed bitches, but never heard of them lacking in the teat department before, trust her to be different.

I've just had a good prod at Evie, to her disgust, and they are actually quite hard to find in the thick coat. Try feeling slightly higher on each side of her flanks rather than along her underline, particularly back between her hind legs, if still nothing I give up.

Behold, the nipple-less wonder! :D

It's not too hard to get down to the skin, the bit where she was shaved for the spay has never really grown back properly (you can see the semi-circle where it joins to the thicker tufty bit).

My OH came back from work while I was belly-tickling for photos -

"What are you doing?"

"Taking photos of our dog's non-existent nipples."

"Oh. What's for dinner?"

I can see one BC! They are there!

Flora has an extra set :p I've had other bitches with random nipples too! I would love to say its a spangle issue (anything to get one up on the spangle mob! ;)) but sadly I think its rather common in many breeds. :D

Fraggle (3/4 spangley) seems to have a pretty even 8 (hers are also v under-developed atm), but Popple (1/2 spangle) certainly has an odd number and set up :o I can't remember exactly how though, and would hate to go and drag the poor love out of bed right now :D

I just woke the puppy up to examine her (She is DISGUSTED with me now haha!)

I think she is 'normal' but its hard to see under all that hair.

BC - Bs nips were barely visible at all untill she had her first season now they are blummin massive, her ladybits are also much yukkier now (bless her)

Bridget has got one short, the one after it is slightly squiffy so they don't even line up - you know when a small child buttons up their and misses one, she looks like that lol
