ok, i posted this morning about taking Missy to her first showjumping show.
well i went up to plait at 7.30 and she stood still and was extremely patient. then loaded her up (straight on!!) and arrived. it was pretty quiet and full of ponies.
tacked up and went in the warm up ring and my god! some people are so RUDE! i put a green ribbon in her tail to show she was young and a bit unpredictable. and this woman on a bay, absolutely tearing round the warm up came right up my arse in canter and used Missy bum as something to stop against. i shouted at her before she got to me to give her time to stop but she didnt and needless to say Missy kicked out. do i blame her? no. i gave the lady a right piece of my mind! and the number of times i said im jumping loudly enough for everyone to hear, but people still trotted in front of us both and the jump. i was fuming! however other then that one kick missy was very well behaved and jumped well in the warm up.
then i went in to the actual ring, and she was a bit tense about leaving the others and being on her own but she went foward. so number one was relativity small but with some funky fillers and missy had a good look but jumped it. second was a oxer which she flew, third was similar. then we got to a double with some seriously scary fillers.
you may tell me off for this but hey ho. i produced her at the first part which she backed off and didnt want to jump. i had to options, to give her a smack and a HUGE kick and force her over or to just circle, regain a rhythm and jump the second part, which is what i did. in all honesty, i didn't want to put any pressure on her or give her a bad experience. i feel theres plenty of time to get her going over scary fences and my main target was to get a relaxed steady round. which we got. she jumped everything else and i was very proud! what a star.
over all i was a very happy bunny. apart from the bloody
warm up!!
OOPS. i forgot about the photo's!! my photographer (mother) forgot to take some as she was too busy watching us jump. so i havent actually got any! sorry!!
J xx
