His old owner thinks he has lice as he had exactly the same last year and the vet said feather mite had burrowed under the skin and exploded out (yuck!) I didn't know this could happen? Has anyone else experienced it? It's on the inside of his near hock so he can't of done it himself, he has no where that he could scratch that part of himself?

Looks like could be mallenders/sallenders - give it a google. Quite common on the front of the hocks and behind the knees and as far as I know there is no definate cause or treatment. If you find one - let me know:)

No that's the only one it's very sore though as he won't let me touch it and actually tried to boot me when I cleaned it which is hugely out of character! I have got vet coming mon but I'm concerned what it is?

It's an allergic reaction to feather mites, I had him jabbed and it's now healing (although he now has a bad back in it's place! Name now changed to sicknote!)
