Mites!

Horse has mites in his mane and tail. He is scratching pretty badly when he can! Whats the best to get rid of them?

Are you sure its not jsut grease unusual to get mites in mane and tail usually just in feathers. But i get frontline spray from vet and that kills them

I had a good look in there tonight and I saw flea-like bugs, and eggs on the hairs - so seems like mites to me.

Get vet to give you some frontline spray its for dogs and cats but works well on mites

I used Coopers Fly Repellent on my ponies mites. It cleared them up in no time.

What about Deosect?

My old loan cob use to have lice in his mane and on his body and I used to powder him all along the mane to his tail, can't remember what it was called but it was in a gold colour tub

wash in insectisital shampoo and apply deosect!
