i think my pony has mites or lice in his feathers and although we have actively taken measures to try to prevent outbreaks and itchiness, but to no avail, we have tried flea collars- which worked briefly but i didnt feel comfortable leaving them on (the advice of a local horsewoman), lice/mite powder has regularly been applied and we have removed as much of his feathers as possible- but yet they persist, are there any other effective treatments to this problem? I heard you could get an inoculation against this from the vets? hmm possibly something to look into...

Fab. Apache the vet will see you now!!! ;) He'll be pleased... hes frightend of needles and runs whenever he sees the vet prepping for his inoculations and boosters!! hahaha... :/.... i will have to console him and he will ignore me for days....... :/

Found what looks like eggs at the base of my yearlings mane - lots of them and only at the base of tr mane - if you rub the hair it comes out with the egg like things attached to the root? Is this lice? Sorry if this is a dull question, haven't had lice in over 12 years!

My fully feathered horse arrived with mites I keep him clipped and have never had an issue and he looks much better to.
