Mites?

Hey!

Anyone got experience with horse mites?

I think my horse may have them. He has browny creamy coloured 'bits' of varying sizes in the fur behind his knees and a crusty patch on his hind quarters. Does this sound like mites? If so, how do you get rid of them? Will they be in his rugs, bedding etc? I'm on a livery yard - do they spread easily?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If you use the search button there are many threads about harvest mites with lots of very useful information.

My mare had her first dectomax jab yesterday as she is already itchy. She is normally kept totally clipped out to aid keeping her clean and control the problem but has not been looked after properly recently and the mites have got hold again.

Pig oil, neem oil, Selsun shampoo are all useful products.
