Does anyone know what these are like to tow with ?

Used to have an Isuzu Trooper which was fab but being taking a look at these.

Thanks

We have one, fab truck, it's towed the trailer all the way down to Dover and back again with a pony in it. (We are in Lincs)

:D

Thirsty though, as you can imagine!

A very useful truck, the older model seems to be viewed more favourably than the newer one (I think 2006 onwards) ours is 2002.

The dogs go in the back pickup part, and during that awful winter of 2010, it saved our lives in the field when lugging water barrels about for the horses, the drifts were over 3ft deep in places, but the old girl ploughed through, a couple of sticky moments but she got there...

This pic is that awful winter, after the first fall of snow, the day after the trucks wheels couldnt be seen in the snow. We now have an enclosed cab on the back of the truck, better for the dogs, rather than sitting on the back seat....

One thing to remember as with all 4x4's, regular maintenance. OH (mechanic) is periodically found underneath with the grease gun, greasing various components apparently.

He says that many problems with 4x4's come from the lack of this 'tinkering' as he calls it.

In the 3 years we have had it, passed it's MOT each time, with no advisories. :D

We have a 4Life, and tow an IW505 with 1 or 2 ponies in it. It tows really well. I have to say the only issue I have is sometimes the turning circle is a bit too wide as the car is long it can sometimes impact on getting into places - can't reverse into friend's field in a narrow lane for example.

I've got a warrior.. It's generally good on normal roads and inclines but struggles a bit on the steep Devon hills with two big Cleveland Bays in the back..

The turning circle is total pants though, really..

Boring legal bit ....

Towing any horse trailer with a L200 requires the driver to be under B+E licence rules (full or provisional with apropriate supervisor)

I,v got an Animal and it towsbrilliantly , however its not so good in the wet.,ve almost lost the back end a few times so its best to keep it in 4WD in bad weather ..

We have a 2009 Warrior. Love it, its fantastic, we have a cover over the back great for chucking manky stuff after shows! Tows a 17.2hh clydie and his wee highland chum no bother at all!! :D
Turning circle is pretty pants though agree with that.

I had the Pajero lwb, very comfortable, oodles of power, hardly knew anything was on the back. The downside however is the very low mpg. I think I used to get 22 mpg on a good day. :(

& as abovem it had the turning circle of a jumbo jet......bl@@dy awful.

Used to have one, would love another. Turning circle is pretty pants, but to address the problem with the back end, put some weight in it! May affect fuel consumption, but it keeps it on the road :D

I tow with one, it is a great vehicle to have around, I have a 2005 warrior. It had the full cover on the flat bed so the dogs travel in it. It has no problem towing over the many hills we have around us.

Now the bad bit. I find it very difficult to manoeuvre with the trailer hitched up, particularly reversing into tight spots. I put this down to the total length of l200+ trailer which takes it to around 35ft. This is on top of the crazily huge turning circle. Most places I go have only small areas for parking and I find it very difficult to turn round whereas when I used to have a shogun I found it much easier. I have actually just put a deposit on an older jeep grand cherokee, 4 litres of pure beast, the guy let me tow with it and maneuvering was so much easier. The l200 may well be going up for sale depending on how bad the winter is

I've just got one and absolutely love it. It is so nice to tow with and be in absolute control of the trailer. Dogs adore it and it is hard to get them to come out when you park up. Yes they are thirsty but for a working truck very hard to beat in its usefulness.
Having been used to driving a large HGV lorry I find the length no problem just have to remember when turning around with a trailer that it bends differently to a rigid lorry

Good for towing, good for getting out in the snow drifts of 2 years ago. They also tend to be a bit tail happy due to the lack of weight over the rear wheels.
Quite a fewsuffer major engine failure too, think it's bottom end problems - so look that up.
I took ours shopping last xmas.... and stupily went into a multistory car park!!! Full lock was totally pants!! Didn't really think about it until I was in the car park but jeez.... just about wiped someone out on the way out of it!!

I have one too, the new shape. It is very powerful and quite comfortable for longer journeys, and with one horse only in the trailer I hardly know there is a trailer on the back.
No back cover, but plenty of room in the double cab passenger seat for stuff, and - small detail - like that I can use the back part as a saddle tree! If I need to take balesof hay, etc. then it is obviously ace!

However, I feel like it is a LOT of metal to be driving round, and even though I am not small, I feel that I don't know where the corners are, and if I am reversing I am waiting for the crunch! Hard to park in town and some supermarket car parks. Also it is the only vehicle I have lost control - I lost the back end when cornering, not towing, and it wobbled all over the road.

However, it was wonderful inthe snow. I now also have an extremely ancient Discovery and for shorter trips I would prefer to use the Disco as it is nicer to drive and has better visibility. But the L200 was fine when it was the only towing vehicle I had.

i borrowed a friends warrior for a couple of months and although it was good to drive and pull a trailer the 'turning circle' was rubbish, i would pull into the local garage as usual but the truck never went round the corner so would end up having to reverse a bit and then pull forward, even on full lock. it took a while to get used to it and to remember it but once i did it was great.

I have an 11 plate Barbarian 35 K miles since last October so far so good only niggles alarm always decides to go off on frosty mornings and the Garage cannot fathom it out Arrived with duff hard top ill fitted tail gate, second the paint didnt match truck third ok and this is down Mitsubishi suppliers rather than Mitsubishi them selves the Later Models have an upgraded engine so they are now pretty bombproof again

The later style models benefit from a better steering lock and super select 4x4 which means you can run in four wheel drive on the road and not get transmission wind up which is far better and safer for towing and in snow and ice etc and you get traction control and ABS.

Only other Gripe the Lease company sent it out Cheapo Cooper AT tyres that didnt perform off road have since retro fitted BFG AT tyres that have transformed the ride handling on road and off road also they are slightly larger and the sat nav speedo and vehicle speedo now match better suggesting once again in rip off Britain we our vehicles supplied on cheaper smaller tyres.

I would recomend one but would warn you not to go near a Nissa Navara which was my last Company Car utter rubbish and much too lardy to be any use off road.
