Hello!

We do our first prelim dressage soon and I was wondering if you have an opinion on if it’s ok to switch between sitting and rising trot throughout the test?

I find it easier to keep my mare actively going forward in rising, so we both look better, however across the diagonals she powers out beautifully, but I can only get this if I sit... also we strike off in canter more smoothly if I've been sitting for a while rather than just a few beats...

Is it ok to mix and match our trotting style or shall I stick to rising?

You won't need to do anything more than working trot at prelim, so I would stick to a consistant rising trot

My mare is the same too! Ill be watching this one.
Recently I was stewarding at a Riding club event - someone asked the same question - but this time for a Novice test - there was an instructor onsite who said you can mix and match - but i dont know her and wouldnt know if she is right.

Judges discression maybe?
