Replied to an ad where owner wanting help with everyday horse jobs. Was told horse has been used for RDA. Apparently there is a strict criteria for horses to pass in Oder for them to be suitable. Does anyone know the details of such criteria.
Got mixed messages as was told horse can be strong when in school and out hacking can spook and spin.
Any thoughts re the above much appreciated.

Mine is sometimes used for RDA but is pretty spooky out on hacks (at the age of 24!). As long they are well behaved when being led most horses can be used for RDA.

If you read the RDA website you will see that there are no "strict criteria" for suitable horses. RDA riders come in all shapes and sizes with a wide variety of abilities and needs, so suitable horses do too. If the potential horse suits your needs and abilities that's fine, if not walk away.

He may be absolutely fine on a lead rein, which most RDA horses have to be, after all there are very few Paralympic standard riders. I have known show ponies, polo ponies, 17hh hunters, Shetland driving ponies and show-jumpers used for RDA. They were all ridden on the lead, even if they were lead at canter from another horse.
