would you put 2 geldings with 1 mare has anyone done this I have a dominant gelding a softee gelding and a soft mare shall i just suck it and see my dominant gelding is having his shoes off for a month I might try it then they are used to each other as the geldings hack together and travel in my trailer without a partition.

We had my rising 4 yo gelding, a rising 3 year old gelding and a 10 year old mare together in the same field for 4 months. The mare kept the naughty young boys in order and was like the strict matron.

When she came into season, she was a bit flirty with the older boy, but tbh never saw much loving going on.

Seemed to work ok, as the boys played whilst she ate.

We've grazed mares and geldings together before without problems. The mares tend to keep the geldings in check - they won't put up with any funny business!

I say go for it!

My gang all run together

2 geldings and 3 mares and it is the mares that are in charge.

They all share the stables and field shelters.

I also have a barren mare that is turned out with my stallion whose fields are next to the others. Never had a problem.

A big mixed group I would, two geldings and one mare - I'd be very wary, geldings can get very possessive over mares and you may end up with a dominance battle going on for the mares attention

We have our two geldings and one mare in together with no problems. My TB is definitely the boss but they all get on pretty well. Ours have also been in a larger mixed herd in the past. I think as long as you introduce them properly - and expect some initial squealing and minor squabbling! - everything should go fine. :)

I 've got a gelding, mare and a colt all together with no problems, gelding is the boss and the others seem to respect that, even though he is the smallest!
